The FrellCast

I only just watched Farscape this year, and after finishing only half of the first season, restarted it to watch with my dad. Hungry for more but not wanting to skip ahead, I found this podcast. I listened to their episodes over the first half of season one in less than a week, and after that point always came back as I continued watching, eager to hear what our hosts had to say about the episodes I'd seen. After finishing PK Wars, getting to have an additional four! hours of listening to Monica & Erin talk about it has helped soothe the heartache of missing a show that's been off the air for 18 years that I didn't even know existed until like 6 months ago. I've had so much fun listening. Our hosts and their guests are smart, funny, and the love (and frustration) they have for Farscape and its formulas makes listening wholly enjoyable; the fun they're having is infectious. The only time I wasn't having much fun was listening to an early repeat guest's frequent complaints that, in my opinion boiled down to an unfamiliarity/distaste simply for cold opens & the episodic television format which unfortunately gave him a lot to nitpick at that didn't feel constructive to a lot of the early discussions. Thank you so much to Erin and Monica and your guests!! You've expressed reluctance, maybe, or just an. Unsureness of continuing this podcast with different shows. But I wonder if you've considered continuing it with a discussion on the Farscape comics?

Great way to rewatch Farscape. The hosts share background information about the episodes, comment on the “science” behind certain aspects of the show and generally just have a good time discussing Farscape. They are good for both new and old viewers since they avoid spoilers. When they first started out they had a cohost named London who added a new viewer perspective, which was nice, but don’t get used to him. He ends up leaving before they finish out the first season. Despite the loss of their third host, they still manage to create an entertaining podcast. At least so far. I’m currently listening while I rewatch season two. There is a more current Farscape podcast that is currently making new episodes, but, since this show finished the series... I’ll come back to that one the next time I do a rewatch. I’m not very patient.

A friend turned me ontothis show and I instantly had to find a pod about it. Great companion to watching it...no spoilers!!!

In 2000, I was living in Hoboken, NJ and working in New York. The NY Post has a daily midday newspaper they gave free to commuters. I remember reading a headline that said “The best TV show you’re not watching” and it was about Farscape. I took their advice and started watching. I fell in love with the show and it became a regular Friday night ritual for me, albeit mostly from a VHS recorded scheduling. Fast forward to 2016 and I was looking for rewatch podcasts to listen to. I thought about Farscape and found this podcast. I instantly fell in love. I would listen and instantly was brought back to watching the original episodes. So many nights I would have an earphone in and listen while caring for my newborn baby and this podcast helped pass the time. I didn’t sleep, I just cared for my baby and would listen to this show. It’s now 2019 and I re-listen to this podcast nightly to fall asleep. Erin and Monica are the exact types of proper you want to guide you through the history of this great show. They provide a tour that can only be explained as perfect. This podcast is so good that it will live on for all those interested in Farscape forever. Thank you both for all the time and professionalism you’ve put into this great piece of work.
