The Future is Bright: Celebrating Female Philanthropy

Meet Our Guests, two women who have paved the path for female philanthropy: Patti Pietsch Weiske –  Armed with both her passion for empowering women and years of professional experience in northern Nevada, Patti Pietsch Weiske founded Dress for Success Reno – Northern Nevada from her home in 2016. Dress for Success empowers women so that they can achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help them thrive in work and in life. Now in its 7th year of helping women in Reno, Dress for Success Reno – Northern Nevada has helped over 900 women find self-worth, self-confidence, and economic stability. Patti holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California and has 30 years of experience in public relations, marketing, and nonprofit management. She has lived in Reno for 35 years and is married with two children. Nancy Remington –  Nancy’s father taught her about philanthropy. He believed as did Winston Churchill that “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” So while she was busy making a living as a teacher, professor, writer, editor, director of Northeastern Nevada Professional Development, Founding Director of the Great Basin Writing Project, Field Director for the National Writing Project, and consultant, she was also making a life as a wife, mother, and board member—Governor’s Literacy Council; Western Folklife Center; Nevada Humanities, member and chair; Nevada Women’s Fund, and most recently Giving Circle member and former Chair—and engaged citizen, all in an effort to give, to make things better. Today Nancy is still a fierce advocate for equity and dignity through her work in the Greater Good Council and The Women’s Giving Circle at the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada.
