Who Knew!?
Things I didn’t know I didn’t know about Glamping I now know. Wow. A great opportunity to learn about the industry that I love so much. Can’t wait for more episodes!
Uninformative, aimless
This podcast has access to extremely compelling guests with worlds of information on the glamping industry. But unfortunately the interview style prevents any of that from being unmasked. On the Collective Retreat 1 hour long interview, for instance, it’s not until minute 29 that the guest actually begins sharing relevant details on how he started his business. I agree that backstory and context give texture and interest to interviews; however, meandering stories and a preoccupation with what other people thought of the guest’s career choice makes up 75% of this interview. Worse, obvious questions go unasked and rare gems on the start up process, start up costs, team composition, operations, tech, regulatory issues, financing, etc. are all sacrificed. The questions should be tighter and more directed at the business’ life cycle (obstacles, requirements, structure, growth strategy, funding, skills, competitive advantage, pivots, etc.). Almost none of this gets addressed. Maybe I’m unclear on who the intended audience is. But I can’t imagine that more details would go unwelcomed by admirers of the industry, folks starting a business in this world or established companies in this space.
