    S2 EP6: Why 18-Year-Olds Should Vote & Other Thoughts on American Democracy

    In this episode, Caroline and featured guest Mr. Kenneth Masseti, Caroline's AP United States Government and Politics teacher, have a conversation about the American democratic process and the importance of the "youth vote" in the 21st century, particularly regarding newly-turned 18-year-olds and the importance of their political participation and voter registration. Discussion topics include the significance of the recent mobilization of youth in political movements, how young people can directly impact legislation being supported in their local districts, the tumultuous nature of achieving social justice reform and legislative changes in our current age, and the responsibility of our democracy to alter itself to fit the ever-changing characteristics of a modern society.     Hi everyone! This is a short episode in which I  wanted to update you all on the current progress with season 2, why I took a break from the podcast, my plans for the rest of the year, etc. I also wanted to take time to formerly thank everyone who has shown me an outpouring of support this year - friends, teachers, community members, etc - it's meant the world to me! My plan is to upload at least once a month of interview-style episodes, as well as more frequent uploads of solo, casual episodes where I share my thoughts on a current issue in a "coffee and chat" style discussion.     In this episode, Caroline and featured guest Dr. D'Anca, the Director of School Counseling Services at Caroline's high school, have an in-depth discussion about several topics relating to navigating the college admissions process, managing and addressing mental health issues in high school, and how Covid has affected our society both educationally and socially. Discussion topics include how to reach out for emotional/social support and identify support networks within your community, how Covid and a recent suite of changes to the SAT and testability could impact college admissions in the future, and how to create an academic environment that supports the holistic "social, emotional, and psychological" wellness of students.     S1 EP15: Season Finale!! 2020 Year-End Reflections: Positive Socio-Political Change + Hopes For 2021

    In this episode, Caroline and featured guest Nicolette Polena (who was also the featured guest on the pilot episode) reflect on 2020 and all of the personal and global change that came along with the past twelve months. Caroline and Nicolette analyze several positively impactful historical and political events that occurred this year (such as the Biden/Harris win, the BLM movement and George Floyd Protests, and the SCOTUS ruling to protect LGBTQ+ rights in the workforce),  give their thoughts on how to remain cultured, informed + engaged in 2021, and also discuss their hopes for the future of socio-political change in the new year.     In this episode, Caroline and featured guest Caleb Yip, a Senior in Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, analyze several critical aspects of today’s rapidly developing political scene, all of which relate to Caleb’s major areas of study in National Security/Military Studies and International Politics. Discussion topics include election reactions/predictions, whether the US is “settling for Biden,” how teens can become more politically involved, how the Coronavirus has impacted foreign relations, and brief overview of Caleb’s experience as a student in the SFS and a Russia enthusiast.
