Let’s Talk About ... Comparison: Heal your relationship with this word

I think the word comparison gets an unfair rap. This episode is my attempt to help you see how comparison can be good. I talk about how seeing someone with something you want doesn’t have to make you feel bad, it can make you feel empowered. Empowered with the knowledge that it’s possible. Your frame of mind determines whether comparing what you have versus what you want makes you feel bad about yourself or like you too can achieve something. I also revisit some aspects from my very first episode “Let’s Talk About … Timing” when I remind my audience that your path is yours and their path is theirs. Usually, comparing your life to someone else’s is like comparing apples to oranges. There is no point. And, you never know what someone else might be dealing with behind the scenes. We all have difficult things going on – things other people may know nothing about. The thesis statement here is that comparison is usually useless, but when you find yourself doing it, you can make it something that makes you feel capable rather than crappy. As always, we chat about some good stuff going on. The thesis there – Artemis II is healing world-wide wounds. Let’s Talk About … Confidence in the Workplace

Do you feel silenced from 9 to 5? Your professional life can be quite vulnerable. For most people, it’s how you make your money to be able to live whatever kind of life you want. We rely on it to provide for ourselves and our families. So, of course it matters to us. But it also can be a source of stress, discouragement, and self-doubt. Whether you suffer from imposter syndrome, you had a crappy boss at a time who made you doubt yourself, or you just need a little pep in your day, this episode is for you. You probably won’t be surprised to learn Caitlin isn’t someone who struggles with stage fright or speaking to a crowd. And because of the wonderful mentorship she had early in her career, she’s always felt like she belongs in the rooms she finds herself in. Even if that’s with a network executive at age 20. Caitlin walks the audience through tangible things they can do to feel more confident at work. She gives tips on four areas: public speaking, speaking up in meetings, doing new tasks, and cold calling/emailing. If you are not currently working, this episode is still for you. Caitlin is sure to explain how to translate these tips to the home, in a job search, or serving as a volunteer position. You will learn what piece of feedback she has been getting since high school, the funny thing she said in her first job review, and hear her ad-lib as a salesperson from northern Oregon. Don’t ask! There are so many takeaways from this conversation, you might want to start taking notes. Let’s Talk About … Heartbreak: The Most Important Breakup Rule

Most of us have experienced a heartbreak or two in our lives. They might not be our finest moments, but I bet they make for great stories. If you have not been through such a thing, lucky you. Allow yourself to simply be entertained by this episode. Although Caitlin isn’t going through a heartbreak right now, something inspired her to finally sit down and discuss this topic. She walks you through her “credentials” as someone who can give breakup advice, shares the most embarrassing moments she’s had as a broken-hearted girl, talks about different kinds of heartbreaks that aren’t romantic, and reminds you yet again not to talk to them. This conversation called for a glass of wine, but Caitlin is a professional, so she met in the middle by pouring herself a glass of non-alcoholic rosé. Honestly, this episode is shameless and funny. Oh, also, she talks about why the show “Love Story” makes her grandmas. You never know what you’re going to get around here, but it’s always a good time. Episode Timestamps: 00:55 Welcome back to The Good Stuff 01:48 Non-alcoholic rosé & setting the vibe 02:37 Why we’re talking about heartbreak today 06:33 “Some Good Stuff” segment begins 07:12 Thoughts on the JFK Jr & Carolyn story 08:15 Missing my grandmas & wanting their perspective 12:05 Horse show update 13:58 Mendocino Farms finally opened near me 15:49 Let’s get into heartbreak 17:15 Different kinds of heartbreak (not just breakups) 19:13 Why I wanted to talk about this topic 21:19 My two major heartbreak experiences 27:18 Rule #1: Do NOT talk to your ex 33:37 It gets easier with time 34:46 Heartbreak teaches you about yourself 37:54 You learn who your real friends are 41:05 Someone who loves you shouldn’t make you feel that way 43:47 It’s not for nothing (you’ll appreciate healthy love) 46:10 The ice cream rule 48:28 Final thoughts on heartbreak & healing 49:27 Outro Follow The Good Stuff on Instagram Follow Caitlin on TikTok Follow the Good Word Co on Instagram Watch on YouTube Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Check out The Good Word Co Website

Let’s Talk About ... Horse Competitions with Shea: You Are Not Too Old To Try Something New

We’ve got our first in-studio guest! Caitlin met Shea through showing horses and has grown to know her not just as a barn mate, but also as a person and friend. Unlike Caitlin who grew up showing horses (as you heard all about last episode), Shea started competing just a few years ago. Caitlin knows the impact of having this community in her life since she was a kid, but she thought it might be interesting to hear the perspective of someone who came to it as an adult. Shea talks about entering this industry – what parts felt intimidating, whether she felt welcomed, and how she balances such a demanding sport within her marriage (hi, Cowboy Chris!). It really opens up a wider conversation about trying new things as an adult. You are not too old to find a new passion. Enjoy my chat with Shea!  Episode Timestamps: 00:29 Meet Shea – Starting Horses as an Adult 02:36 What It’s Like Learning the Sport Later in Life 04:12 Scottsdale Show Week & Horse Show Season Begins 06:33 Some Good Stuff – First Podcast Ad & Momentum Shift 08:22 Real Life Update: Nancy Guthrie Conversation 09:23 Shay’s Good Stuff – Olympics, Two-Step & Career News 13:17 How Shay Got Back Into Horses During COVID 16:45 Breaking Into the Horse World as an Adult 19:59 Being the “New Person” in an Established Community 23:10 Confidence in Your 30s & Not Caring What People Think 26:54 Sponsor Break – Hammer & Clay 27:30 First Time Showing at U.S. Nationals 29:07 Seeing Nationals Through Fresh Eyes 30:30 Managing Nerves & Walking Into the Arena 32:33 The Electric Energy of Nationals 34:27 Pressure Is a Privilege – Doing It for the Team 36:40 Lessons From the Barn That Apply to Real Life 39:15 Why Trying Something New Is Worth the Discomfort 42:10 The Joy of Being a Beginner Again 45:00 Final Encouragement – It’s Not Too Late to Start 47:30 Closing Thoughts Follow The Good Stuff on Instagram Follow Caitlin on TikTok Follow the Good Word Co on Instagram Watch on YouTube Listen on Spotify Listen on Apple Check out The Good Word Co Website

Let's Talk About ... Horse Competitions: 20 Years of Lessons From the Show Ring

“If I had been doing this only for the blue ribbons that I win, I would have quit so long ago. Because that is not enough to keep you going in this sport.” Being a competitive equestrian is a big part of Caitlin’s identity. She has shown Arabian horses for 20 years at the local, regional, and national level. It’s a big part of why she built her business The Good Word, Co. and, most importantly, where she has learned so much about life – through triumphs and success, along with heartbreak and disappointment. On the eve of the kickoff to the 2026 season, she felt like it was a good time to dive into all the lessons she has learned over the years. This wisdom has come from competing in this sport, but as you will hear, she pulls on many of these lessons in her daily personal and professional life. She talks about hard work, balancing bigemotions, managing competition within friendships, the benefit of nerves, clapping for others when your world is not going according to plan, and much more. Take a peek behind the curtain of horse competitions and enjoy this episode! Let’s Talk About … Two Things Being True: Finding Balance with all of Life’s Nuances

Happy and sad. Good and bad. Excited and anxious. So often in life, we are balancing multiple emotions over the same event, conversation, or experience. It’s a learning curve to let all these feelings exist in the same moment. This episode looks at this complicated aspect of being human. Caitlin talks about times she has felt this – including a funny recent late work night. She also talks about way more sports than she has any business doing and introduces a new segment called “Some Good Stuff!” She talks about Fernando Mendoza, breeding horses, her grandma’s wardrobe, and franchise quarterbacks all within the same 45 minutes. And somehow, it all flows. Oh – and you all get the first visual of her dog too. It’s a worthwhile watch or listen. p.s.The Good Stuff is now on YouTube! Let’s Talk About … Ben: The Lessons That Come With Missing Him

Hi. This is my most vulnerable episode yet. I cry multiple times. If you have been a consistent listener, you probably know who Ben is. If you are new here, Ben was a bonus big brother of mine who passed away at the beginning of 2025. There have been little snippets of him on the podcast over the past year. Now feltlike a good time to dedicate an episode to the things he taught me, stories of how he lived, and the complexities of grieving someone young. If you knew Ben personally, please only watch or listen to this if you think it will help you. I do not want this to make anyone any sadder than you might already feel. Thereis not much more to say. I hope you take something from this episode. p.s. The Good Stuff is now on YouTube!
