The Greatest Pod Ed Greer and Ron Swallow

“The Greatest Pod Reboots DC Comics” is our attempt to explain what we think is not quite optimized in the modern DC Comics universe. Of course, we talk about reimagining the role of  “The Trinity” of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman BUT WE ALSO want to make characters like Bronze Tiger, Lady Shiva, and The Question become more important to the fans. DC has so many forgotten characters that need bolstering and so many sections of their universe that need more exploring. We love DC Black Label and Elseworlds but the main universe needs some rejuvenation babay and we have some ideas.  Right or wrong we’re interesting so fire up the ep baby!!

Besides that bit of scintillating radio we have an awesome (if male filmmaker centric) conversation about the “The Greatest Low Budget Movies” of our lifetimes. We’ll do another acknowledging the works of the gals and non binary pals but this one is a fairly two-fisted appreciation of what certain filmmakers, mostly from the 80’s and 90’s, did to start a shoestring budget revolution that ripples till this day.

In this one we discuss and debate what makes “The Greatest Heist Movies.”  Many pieces of media are said to be Rorschach tests, but your appreciation or lack thereof for the heist genre sparks a great conversation about crime, punishment, and taste. What counts as a heist movie? The ingredients seem to be a plan, a crew, and a dramatic need but when you really delve into the genre it’s about the viewer’s relationship with the law. Do you think life is “for the taking” literally? Who do you sympathize with in these movies? The cops, the outlaws, the people playing them both against each other?
