What Is Enough? Rethinking Wealth, Faith, and Generosity

Most Christ-following business owners say God owns it all. But when the wire transfer clears after a business sale, that's where belief meets the wheelbarrow. In this episode, Jay Mink, Director of Outreach at National Christian Foundation, Carolinas, walks alongside some of the most generous people in the country and sees exactly what happens when faith gets that real. Jay breaks down the difference between a standard of living and a standard of giving, explains why the depth of our generosity is tied directly to its object, and points to finishlinepledge.com, a tool that helps you set a real financial finish line with God. I also share a story from my own farm that stopped me cold: a man with almost nothing who gave nearly everything away, and why it convicted me more than any sermon. Tune in to this episode of The Guidelight, grab a notebook, and let God into that conversation. It might be the most important financial decision you make this year. Jay Mink is the Director of Outreach at National Christian Foundation, Carolinas, where he helps business owners and families align their financial decisions with lasting impact. With over 20 years of leadership in marketing and growth strategy, Jay has worked closely with founders and advisors navigating complex transitions. He specializes in guiding clients through strategic giving approaches, including non-cash assets, that often intersect with business exits and M&A events. The Power of Being the One

God’s best work happens the moment we lay our agenda down. In this episode, at the Lead Loud Conference, speaker Karl Sherrill challenged the room with a simple but weighty idea which is, “Be the one.” Show up for people, even when it’s inconvenient. That message was still ringing in my ears when I spotted a young man named Alex sitting alone by the window and I made the decision to walk over. Alex’s story hit me harder than anything from the stage that day. A military veteran, covered in concrete and ready to quit his job, bumped into a stranger who chose to laugh with him instead of walking past him. That stranger became his business partner. Their company now spans multiple states. Ezekiel 22:30 says, “God searched for someone to stand in the gap and found no one.” That verse is not history. It’s a daily invitation to each one of us. Tune in to this episode of The GuideLight and let it remind you that surrendering even one moment of your agenda can change someone’s entire world including your own. Top 5 Reasons Business Owners Can't Exit

Most businesses don’t sell not because there are no buyers, but because the business wasn’t built to be sold. In this episode, I walk through the five reasons most exits fail: poor preparation, unrealistic valuation, owner dependence, bad timing, and external market conditions. Each one is avoidable but only if you start working on them well before you’re ready to sell.  The business that attracts serious buyers is one with clean books, documented processes, a leadership team that doesn’t need the founder in the room, and a track record that speaks for itself. As Proverbs 24:27 reminds us, you prepare the field before you build the house. The same wisdom applies here. If you’ve built something worth keeping, it’s worth protecting all the way to a clean exit. Tune in to this episode of The GuideLight. What Buyers Look For in Founder Led Companies

Strong businesses are built to last, scale, and carry forward the vision. In this episode, I share what serious buyers look for in founder-led companies and how to build something that continues to thrive long after you step away.   It starts with predictability, clean financials, disciplined decisions, and systems that remove guesswork. But the real test goes deeper: leadership depth and culture continuity. Can your team carry the mission without you, or does everything still depend on you? I also talk about due diligence which is the moment where every gap shows. Preparation protects your value, deal, and peace. If you’re thinking about M&A, succession, or long-term legacy, this will challenge how you lead today.  Watch this episode of The GuideLight and make sure your business is transferable. How to Lead Your Team Through An Exit Without Fear

Leading your team through an exit will either build trust or break it. In this episode, I show how to lead a business exit, M&A transition, or succession plan in a way that strengthens your team and your legacy.  Most leaders stay silent too long. But poor communication creates fear, fractures teams, and weakens culture. The right timing, honest conversations, and people-first leadership can protect your enterprise value, retain key talent, and strengthen your legacy.   Your team will follow your lead. You set the emotional tone. You shape how this transition is remembered.  Lead with clarity, faith, and intention and you won’t just close a deal, you’ll carry your people through it. If you’re facing a sale or transition, lead it well. Don’t miss this episode of The GuideLight and make sure your next move strengthens both your business and the people behind it. When is it time to start something new — and when is it time to stay the course? In Part 2 of my conversation with Dave Streen, we unpack the realities of serial entrepreneurship. Dave has launched multiple companies, brought over 100 products to market, and bought and sold businesses across industries. But this isn’t about chasing ideas. Build to Exit: How to Create a Profitable Business That Runs Without

What does it really look like to build a business you’re proud of — not just profitable, but aligned with your life? In this episode of The Guidelight, I sit down with Dave Streen for a candid conversation about entrepreneurship, focus, burnout, and what actually matters when the dust settles. We talk about the temptation to chase everything at once, the myth that more hustle always equals more growth, and why so many founders wake up successful on paper but dissatisfied in reality. This conversation isn’t about grinding harder. It’s about thinking clearer. It’s about building intentionally. And it’s about remembering that many of the most meaningful things in life don’t show up on a balance sheet. If you’re a founder, operator, or leader wrestling with growth, focus, or the next chapter, this episode will challenge the way you think about success. Hit play and rethink what you’re building — and why. Dave Streen is a serial entrepreneur, author, and speaker known for building businesses that prioritize simplicity, leverage, and freedom.
