    Project NIKE and The Cold War

Eighty Years' War, (1568–1648): also known as the Dutch War of Independence, which led to the separation of the northern and southern Netherlands and to the formation of the United Provinces of the Netherlands (the Dutch Republic). Note: In Dutch and English historiography the Dutch struggle for independence from the Spanish Crown in the 16th and 17th century was long known as the Eighty Years' War.
