I chat with a newly-arrived English Doctor who shares her thoughts on the differences between the British and Australian medical systems. I discuss the scourge and impact of microplastics in the environment with a Scientist. We get to hear from a Burlesque dancer who was visiting Newcastle for the first time and had arrived to preform in a sultry one-night only show. We close out this "Science and the Arts" episode with a conversation I had with a Theatre Stage Manager who was excited about the opening night of the new "Romeo and Juliet Reimagined" play in Newcastle's famous Civic Theatre.

#20. DV redemption, Apprentice floorers, Child kidnapping and Hindu chant

WARNING: Episode 20 is another very confronting show... It contains content that some may find hard to digest, so please tread carefully with this one. I feel that reaching the 20 episode milestone is quite significant (apparently most podcasts peter-out around this stage but I have no intentions of pulling the pin just yet). I had no idea that I would find such solace and inspiration in driving people from "A" to "B", but I have and I feel incredibly honoured and thankful to have met so many genuine individuals across the last 15 months of driving with Uber. As a result of these interactions, I have learned more about myself than I ever thought possible and I think these chats have changed me for the better. I've literally had thousands of conversations (most of which have not been recorded); so these are just the tip of an inconceivably-large pool of true stories, which have come from me picking up real people in and around the Port Stephens and Newcastle communities of NSW, Australia. #19. Aged Care in Australia

In episode #19 of The IntervUber Podcast, we get to meet three women who are all working in different areas of the Australian Aged Care sector. First up is an Academic who works closely with Governments to help create policy and procedures for the industry. In segment two, I chat with an Administrator who comes from a personal background of childhood neglect. As a result of her extensive "lived experience", she has a deep understanding of the many confronting issues associated with those on the periphery of society. In the third and final conversation, I drove a Nurse to her place of work; on the way, she gave a frontline perspective of what it's like to professionally care for the ageing and infirm in our communities.

In part two, the Ivan Milat link ironically leads us into a conversation I had with two English backpackers, who had just enjoyed Camel rides on the magnificent Stockton Sand Dunes of Port Stephens and having recently arrived in the country, were loving their time in Australia. In segment three, I chat with a man who has been coming to terms with the decades-long-suppressed memories and recollections of enduring institutionalised sexual abuse as a youngster.

Welcome to Episode 14 of The IntervUber Podcast. Please note that Listener discretion is advised. In this week’s edition, I chatted with a French-Canadian Waitress who recently made a decision which will change the trajectory of her life. I had a diverse conversation with a Painter and Decorator from the Black Country in the Midlands of England, and I discussed Social Justice issues with a Welsh writer, who’d just got off the train. Drove a man to his destination, whose brother had had a psychotic breakdown a few weeks prior; which could have ended tragically but he seems to think that there are glimmers of hope for a family devastated by a terribly-violent incident. We round out this week, with a couple of very relaxed flooring contractors, who’d just had lovely Thai massages…
