3 Ways to Strengthen Your Intuition (And What Might Be Blocking You From Hearing It)

Have you ever had a moment where you just knew something… but you couldn’t explain how you knew? Maybe it was a quiet feeling that something in your life needed to change. A relationship that no longer felt aligned. A career path you were beginning to outgrow. A decision that looked “right” on paper but didn’t feel right in your body. So often, we dismiss these moments because intuition rarely arrives with a complete roadmap. It doesn’t hand us every answer. It usually offers a whisper—a small nudge asking us to pay attention. In this episode of Creative by Nature, I’m sharing three powerful ways to strengthen your intuition and reconnect with the inner wisdom that has been there all along. Because the truth is, you’re not “bad” at being intuitive. More often, your inner voice has simply been competing with years of conditioning, people-pleasing, overthinking, survival patterns, and the noise of everyday life. Together, we explore how to begin clearing away what’s blocking your inner knowing and creating a stronger relationship with yourself. Remember: this journey isn’t about becoming someone more intuitive. It’s about removing the layers that have made it difficult to hear what has always been there. Your intuition isn’t missing. It’s waiting for you to listen again. 🎧 Press play and join me for this honest conversation about self-trust, healing old patterns, and returning to your own inner wisdom. It’s not too late! Reclaiming the creative parts of yourself you thought you lost.

Have you ever thought, “I wish I had learned that sooner,” or “It might be too late for me now”? Maybe there’s a creative thing that’s followed you for years—a hobby you loved as a kid, a dream you set aside, or something you quietly wish you were “the kind of person” who did. In this episode of Creative by Nature, I share my journey of starting piano lessons as an adult—and realizing it was never really about piano. It was about permission. To begin. To be new at something. To follow joy without needing to justify it. As I reflect on growing up with music, walking away from certain dreams, and later reconnecting with creativity in unexpected ways, I explore what it means to reclaim the parts of ourselves we didn’t actually lose… just left behind. This episode is a reminder that creativity doesn’t expire. You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t have to “catch up.” You just get to begin. We explore:  Why creativity is rarely lost, just waiting  How grief and healing can reconnect us to ourselves  The fear that tells us it’s “too late”  What it feels like to start again for joy, not achievement If something in you has been whispering “someday,” this is your reminder that someday can be today. So maybe the real question isn’t whether it’s too late. It’s: what part of you is still waiting for your yes? 🎧 Tune in to this episode of Creative by Nature and give yourself permission to begin again. Connect with Jess: https://thejourneytohere.net/

I’m the Daughter of a Hoarder (Part 2): The Shame, Secrets & Fear of Being Seen

In Part 1, I shared my experience of growing up with a mother and grandmother who struggled with hoarding—the secrecy, shame, responsibility, and silence that shaped so much of my childhood. But as I continued my healing journey, I realized the hoarding wasn't the deepest wound. There was another layer underneath it all. And maybe you've experienced something similar. Maybe the details of your story are different, but you've spent years carrying the belief that certain parts of you are too much, too messy, too painful, or too shameful to let anyone see. Maybe you've become the perfectionist, the people pleaser, the overachiever, the one who keeps everything together because somewhere along the way you learned that being accepted meant being good. In this episode, I share the unexpected belief that surfaced through my own visibility work, meditation, and parts work: I'm a bad daughter. But beneath that belief was an even deeper question: What if the fear isn't that you're a bad person… but that if people truly knew your story, they would think less of you? Together, we'll explore the connection between shame, visibility, self-expression, creativity, and the courage it takes to tell the truth about who we are. If you've ever hidden parts of yourself to feel safe, struggled with perfectionism, feared judgment or rejection, kept parts of your story private, or found yourself shrinking instead of allowing yourself to be fully seen, this episode is for you. Because healing isn't always about getting rid of the parts of yourself you've hidden. Sometimes, healing is learning how to sit beside those parts with compassion, allow them to be seen, and finally give them the love and safety they have been asking for all along. This is the journey of coming home to yourself. 🔗 Connect with Jess: thejourneytohere.net

I'm the Daughter of a Hoarder: When Telling the Truth Feels Like Betrayal

For years, I avoided telling this part of my story. Not because I didn't love my mom. Not because I wanted to blame anyone. But because somewhere along the way, I learned that protecting the people I loved mattered more than telling the truth about my own experience. In this deeply personal episode, I'm sharing what it was like growing up with a mother and grandmother who struggled with hoarding, mental illness, addiction, and emotional disconnection. But this conversation isn't really about hoarding. It's about the secrets we carry. It's about the shame that keeps us silent. It's about becoming the "good girl," the caretaker, the protector—and what happens when those roles follow us into adulthood. As I reflect on memories from my childhood and the aftermath of my mother's passing, I explore the hidden beliefs that shaped me for decades: that telling the truth was dangerous, that protecting others was my responsibility, and that sharing my experience somehow made me a bad daughter. In this episode, I talk about: • Growing up around hoarding, secrecy, and emotional disconnection • The burden of carrying family secrets • How childhood experiences shape our relationship with truth and self-expression • The "good girl" role, people-pleasing, and becoming a caretaker • Shame, guilt, and complicated grief after the loss of a parent • Why telling the truth about your experience doesn't erase your love for someone • Learning to hold compassion and honesty at the same time • The healing power of self-expression and storytelling If you've ever struggled with family dysfunction, estrangement, complicated grief, people-pleasing, or the fear of speaking your truth, this episode is for you. You are not alone. Sometimes healing begins when we stop protecting everyone else and finally make space for our own story. Tune in and join me for this honest conversation about shame, truth, healing, and what it means to come home to yourself. Find Jess at thejourneytohere.net

My Childhood Home Burned Down: The Memories, Grief, and Healing It Brought to the Surface

Sometimes a loss isn't really about what was lost. Almost two months ago, my childhood home burned to the ground in a tragic house fire that claimed the lives of a mother and her six children. While the house hadn't belonged to my family for years, watching it disappear brought forward emotions I never expected. At first, I thought I was grieving the loss of a home. But what surfaced was much deeper. I found myself grieving multiple versions of the same loss: childhood memories, family stories, old identities, unresolved pain, burnout, people-pleasing patterns, and the version of myself I spent years trying to hold together. In this deeply personal episode, I share what happened when my childhood home burned down, how grief showed up in layers, and the surprising connection between this loss and a healing journey that began nearly a decade ago. This conversation explores what happens when something from your past finally disappears—and what remains when you can no longer hold onto what once defined you. This episode is ultimately a reflection on grief, healing, identity, and the courage it takes to release what no longer belongs to us. If you've ever found yourself grieving a place, a relationship, a role, a dream, or a version of yourself, I hope this conversation reminds you that healing isn't about rushing forward. Sometimes it's about honoring what was, making space for what is, and trusting what is still becoming. Connect with Jess: thejourneytohere.net
