Who Am I in the Bible? - Rebuilding What Was Broken - Episode 19

Send us Fan Mail This week on The Jesus Effect, we continue our Who Am I in the Bible? series with a story of courage, prayer, and restoration. Our mystery person received heartbreaking news about a city that once represented strength and identity for God’s people. Its walls were broken. Its gates were burned. What followed was not immediate action—but prayer, mourning, and a burden placed on the heart. From that burden came a courageous request, a journey back to a ruined city, and the incredible task of rebuilding what had been destroyed. But rebuilding never comes without opposition. Mockery, threats, and resistance surrounded the work. Yet faith, leadership, and trust in God proved stronger than every obstacle. This story reminds us that God often places burdens on our hearts not simply to grieve what is broken—but to participate in restoring it. Listen closely to the clues and see if you can identify this week’s mystery person before the reveal. Because sometimes the greatest acts of faith begin with a heart willing to rebuild. Next time, we’ll reveal the answer and step into another story from Scripture together. Need prayer or want to share your story? Jesus — Head of the Church & Our Hope of Reconciliation Colossians Mini-Series (Episode 2)

Send a text Who leads the Church? And who truly holds first place in your life? In Colossians 1:18–23, the Apostle Paul reveals that Jesus is not only Lord of creation — He is the Head of the Church, preeminent in everything, and the only One who can reconcile us to God. In this episode of The Jesus Effect, Steve McLane walks verse-by-verse through this powerful passage and explores: • What it means for Jesus to be the Head of the Church • Why Christ must be preeminent — not just prominent • The beauty of reconciliation through the blood of the cross • How the gospel produces stability, steadfastness, and hope • What it looks like to stand firm in faith Jesus does not compete for first place. He deserves it. And nothing you are facing today has caught Him off guard. When you encounter Him as Head… you stop trying to control. When you encounter Him as Reconciler… you rest. When you see Him as preeminent… everything aligns. If you need prayer or want to share your story? Who Am I in the Bible? - When God Speaks in the Night - Episode 16

Send a text Have you ever sensed God prompting you… but weren’t sure if it was really Him? In this episode of Who Am I in the Bible, we first reveal last week’s mystery figure Joshua — the leader who learned that courage begins with listening and obedience. Then we step into a new story. In a world filled with noise, distraction, and constant urgency, this episode gently calls us back to a simple but powerful prayer: “Speak, Lord… Your servant is listening.” If you are seeking direction, clarity, or renewed attentiveness to God’s voice, this episode will encourage your heart. Who is this person? Listen closely… and see if you can guess before the reveal. Reflection: Where might God be inviting you to slow down and listen?
