The Jodcast

In my opinion, the best long-running astronomy podcast out there. The presenters are pleasant and intelligent (and their voices aren’t annoying, which is a big podcast pet peeve of mine), and they are actual professional astronomers and university students who are well-acquainted with their subject matter. The Jodcast has an approachable vibe for astronomy enthusiasts of any level, but isn’t afraid to do some really fascinating deep dives. Paired with the charming banter of the presenters as they go wildly off-topic and geek out, each episode is a thoroughly enjoyable listen. One of my favorite things about the Jodcast is that it tries to stay classy, clean, and safe for a general audience. Based in England, it also provides a refreshing amount of coverage and interviews from the European astronomy scene. If you’re looking for an intellectual science podcast that you can really sink your mental teeth into, you can’t go wrong with the Jodcast. (Bonus points for all the awesome accents!)

The Jodcast is one of my favorite podcasts, and I subscribe to about 100 of them. It’s an informative and interesting listen, which is also good to fall asleep to. I haven’t seen any new ones drop since May 2021. I hope they get back to doing them regularly again.
