The Katniss Chronicles

If I had not known that this was fan-made, I would have taken this as an official, professional, BBC Radio 4 radio drama. I love the audiobooks, I love the movies but this is something special. It doesn’t rely on/copy the movies and it honors the book even when it adds things that weren’t in the book. The acting is superb. The attention to dialects is respectful and realistic. I don’t know if the author has heard this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this was closer to her vision of the story created than any other Hunger Games adaptation.

Fantastically true to the source material as well as making wonderful and compelling artistic and adaptational choices. In my opinion, excelled in many places where the films floundered, especially when it comes to fleshing out the relationships. Amazing audio drama. Love it forever.

They’ve added some great touches to make the Hunger Games work in audio format. The sound gets a little strange sometimes, with the balance of voices to sound effects or music being off and whatnot. But most of the acting is great, the music is great, and the changes they’ve made to adapt the books to audio are really good and let the original prose shine. It’s a good long listen, too. I’m really glad I found this.
