My research combines behavioral and analytical sciences to help resolve complex issues. I particularly focus on leveraging the power of artificial intelligence and analytics to improve outcomes, enhance productivity and lower costs in various fields. Current areas of interests are 1) cybersecurity and data falsification in 2) healthcare information system design, and 3) artificial intelligence and algorithmic fairness.

Through collaboration with the Office of Veterans Affairs, I have been involved in several HSR&D and NIH studies totaling about $5 million in overall funding. Recent funded work looks at: 1) detecting empathy in provider secure messages, 2) improving the traditional Natural Language Processing system to identify pain care quality indicators in clinical notes, and 3) automating the documentation of clinical notes. I have accumulated a strong record of achievements in terms of research publications and partnerships that impact the fields of healthcare and information systems.

I have publications at leading journals in the field including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research (ISR), and the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA). I am passionate about analytics and programming and enjoy passing along the power of AI and analytics to future generations of data scientists.

Moving forward, I would like to continue impactful research applying the latest AI algorithms to help stakeholders in the healthcare field. Whether it is reducing costs for patients, reducing provider burnout, or enhancing healthcare outcomes, there is a tremendous potential for AI in the healthcare field. And I feel that is our duty to bring turn this potential into tangible solutions.

STEs1e13 - The Shark Tank Effect Show Talks with NightCap Inventor Shirah Benarde

STEs1e13 - The Shark Tank Effect Show Talks with NightCap Inventor Shirah Benarde

NightCap was invented in early 2019 by then 16-year-old Shirah Benarde from West Palm Beach, Florida. The idea came to her in a dream after hearing about the horrors of drink spiking from friends who experienced it after going off to college. Fortunately, her friends were okay, but Shirah was determined to come up with a pragmatic solution to this problem to protect her and her friends when they went off to college. She also wanted to make sure the product would be something girls would feel comfortable using. The next morning, she went to her mother’s closet, grabbed a pair of pantyhose, cut them up, and attached them to a scrunchie to create the first NightCap prototype.
Her brother, Michael, 21 at the time, came home from college for the summer and saw the prototype sitting on a table. As someone who had been living on a college campus for four years, he understood how prevalent this problem was — and is. Knowing that there was no product on the market that had been adopted at scale, Michael saw huge potential for NightCap due to its unbeatable convenience and reusability. Together, Michael and Shirah took action and spent the next six months working to bring NightCap from concept to reality.

Great podcast for inventors - must listen

It was a pleasure to be a guest on Jim and Carmine's Launch Network podcast for inventors.

I too am a podcaster (Inventors Helping Inventors) so I know just how much hard work there is to creating and providing a podcast with valuable content and getting it out there consistently.

Keep up the good work Jim and Carmine!

Scammer

Ripped off ….I paid Carmine and INVENTORS LAUNCHPAD a lot of money upfront for product development and for over a year and a half they have done absolutely nothing for me it’s the most unprofessional operation I’ve ever seen in my life, buyer beware, research their business and you will see a very sketchy history of closures. Based on the large amount of money they stole for me I’m giving this podcast one star.
