Keefe is letting the skilled players play.

Keefe is letting the skilled players play.

Jonas and Mirtle discuss the difference in philosophy in ice time between Sheldon Keefe and Mike Babcock. Keefe is emphasising skill, as the Leafs gifted players, led by Auston Matthews are receiving more ice time, which is not good news for the likes of Frederik Gautheir.
Plus the boys discuss the goaltending assignments for the Leafs, and Toronto's ongoing battle to find a suitable backup for Frederik Andersen and if Tyson Barrie and Morgan Rielly should stay together as a defensive pair and who should join Matthews & William Nylander on the number one line.

Inconsistent Output

While Jonas and James are arguably the most well rounded Leaf analysts, offering a nice mixture of analytics and perspective, the frequency of the podcast has been spotty, sometimes going weeks without a new episode. I understand these guys are incredibly busy building and contributing to the Athletic, but if they cannot produce regularly, they should get some help, bring in guests, and not just do it as a tandem. Also, these guys need to figure out how to refine their production. Learn how to use skype. Ask Ian at the Leafs Geeks podcast for some pointers.

Lazy, boring podcasts

Sadly, this pod is last on my list of Leafs pods to listen to - and I’m an obsessive who will consume just about anything. These guys are never prepared and sound annoyed at being forced to do a podcast every episode. Half the openers are “hey James what should we talk about today?” Every episode is full of dead space. This last episode had 10 straight seconds of silence at one point before Jonas actually said “uhhh hello??” to see if his partner was still there.

Leafs fans deserve better from an outlet branding itself as the standard for team coverage, both in terms of quantity and quality.

Great Podcast, too infrequent

I listen to a lot of podcasts and this is a favorite. I especially like the leafs focus but I wish there were either more episodes are some kind of schedule set up like having a new episode every 2 weeks. Im a proud athletic subscriber and I hope they can get this going with some consistency
