At a Human Pace

Melody Escobar

This podcast is for people who have spent years over-functioning: holding it together, doing the right thing, and quietly exhausting themselves in the process. I’m Melody, a somatic coach, yoga teacher, vegan nutritional therapist, and sound & energy practitioner. We talk about survival patterns as intelligent adaptations (shaped by trauma, class, gender, and inhumane systems) and not personal failures. We explore safety, capacity, limits, worth, and what it actually means to live at a human pace. This is a space to pause, to feel, to question the push.

Healing in a world that profits from your exhaustion

We were never meant to live at machine speed. And yet most of us are trying to heal, create and build a life inside systems that reward urgency, overwork, and burnout. In this episode, we explore what it actually means to live at a human pace. We unpack how hustle culture conditions the nervous system to live in survival mode and then calls it success and why slowing down is not just personal, but political. If you’ve been feeling behind, exhausted, or like your body is resisting the pace of your life, this episode is an invitation to stop forcing and start listening. You’re not broken. You’re just done living at an inhuman speed. When healing became another thing to succeed at...

In this first episode, I’m sharing one of the biggest mistakes I made in my healing journey: believing that healing was entirely my responsibility. As an overachiever and over-functioner, I thought that if I just tried harder, found the right tools, or did healing “correctly,” my life would finally work. And when it didn’t, I assumed I was the problem. In this episode, I talk about why healing was never about doing more for me, and what shifted when I started recognising context, trauma, illness, financial stress, and the systems we live inside. This isn’t about avoiding responsibility. It’s about letting go of internalised blame and black-and-white thinking; and understanding healing as something deeply human, complex, and unequal.
