How is it that the people in charge of WPRO don’t know what to bring to RI listeners. We don’t get fair & balanced accountability in journalism. Instead we get right wing nut jobs ranting & raving all day.

Trash reporting and completely one sided. He somehow does not see that he is in the wrong. Even though he says the overwhelming majority is “left leaning whack-a-doos” he insists he is right. Matt bud, if more people are telling you, you are wrong, then right, then you are wrong. You say trump was a choice between garbage and sewage. Cool how many “left leaning whack-a-doos” storm the capital when trump won? Hmm interesting. Trump supporter threaten to kidnap governors. Take a look in the mirror. Recently Matt has taken to not understanding CrT and instead rambles nonsensical about it and clearly shows how fragile his ego is. Or about covid and asking “ why can’t we question scientists” well Matty boy these people are doctors, and science isn’t always definitive while discovering and researching something new. It’s a process. And it’s not that you can’t ask questions, it’s that your questions are just plan dumb. Why don’t teachers need to be vaccinated? Really…are you really wasting time on this. How about getting a doctor on your show to explain how viruses work. Maybe an epidemiologist. And how about getting a person of color on your show so you can see how utterly ignorant you are about CrT

I listen to 630 am everyday because most of their hosts are truly passionate about understanding “the other side.” Even when I disagree with a particular stance, they often bring up valid points that force me to reevaluate where I stand on issues. Because I listen so often, I also see how most of the hosts adjust their stance when presented with new information. Ultimately, as a person that leans just left of center, I truly appreciate how this seemingly just right of center group of hosts challenge my opinions and facilitate a healthy exchange of information. I see growth on their end, and I feel growth on my end. I’ve suggested their show to all of my friend, both Democrats and Republicans. Despite being surrounded by individuals who are truly dedicated to understanding the perspective of others and providing valuable information to help others better understand their perspective, Matt somehow misses the mark. The best example of this would be when he discusses race. Although it is clear that he has very little understanding of the experiences of anyone that isn’t a white male, he gives the impression that he does. He gives the impression that he’s done his research even though he hasn’t. The only time that he verbalizes the fact that he does not understand the experiences of a black male, is when he has one on the phone. When this happens, he is is absolutely AMAZING. He is humble, understanding, and kind. His responses are considerate and it appears that he is taking it all in. But golly, as soon as the call is over, he is back to his narrow understanding of the word around him. The fist time this happened, I thought the caller was able to get through to him, at least a little. I now know better. The only conclusion that I can draw from those interactions is that when he speaks to someone that has a lived experience and opinion that differs from his own, he pacifies them. He speaks in a way that gives the caller the impression that they are getting through to him so that they don’t feel compelled to defend their experiences. As soon as the caller is off of the line, his narrow understanding of the subject is back on full display. This is a fantastic strategy on Matt’s part, as anyone who has the same limited views will honestly believe that they are listening to a person who is willing to grow and learn. Outside of a few select topics, he can be enjoyable to listen to. Perhaps with more life experience, and guidance from his colleagues, he will reach his fullest potential.
