    Releasing & Trusting God - Part 2

What happens when we finally release what we have been trying to carry alone? In this second part of my reflection on holding, releasing, and trusting God, we move into the heart of faith: surrender. Sometimes love means letting go—not because we stop caring, but because we choose to trust that God is already at work in ways we cannot see. In this episode we explore: ✨ The courage it takes to release control and trust God ✨ The story of Jochebed in Exodus 2, who placed her child into God’s hands ✨ How faith invites us to stop carrying what God never asked us to hold alone ✨ The promise that God guards our hearts and minds (Philippians 4) ✨ The comfort that God watches over us always (Psalm 121) Through the stories of Mary, Hannah, and Jochebed, we are reminded that faith often begins where our strength ends. When we release what we cannot control, we create space for God’s presence, protection, and purpose. This episode is an invitation to remember: 💛 You are loved with an everlasting love 💛 Faith is choosing who truly holds control 💛 The end of your strength may be the beginning of God’s work As 1 Peter 5 reminds us, we can cast our cares upon Him—because He cares deeply for us. So today we hold those we love in our arms… lift them in prayer… and trust them into God’s hands. Holding with Love, Releasing with Faith - Part 1

What does it mean to hold someone you love… and still learn to release them to God? In this deeply personal episode, I share a reflection inspired by my sermon on holding, releasing, and trusting God—a journey every parent, caregiver, and person of faith eventually faces. We begin with the powerful image of a mother’s love, which mirrors something of God’s own heart for us. Scripture reminds us again and again that we are seen, known, and held in everlasting love. In this episode we explore: ✨ What it means to hold those we love with care and compassion ✨ How God sees our love and our struggles ✨ The tension between protecting and releasing ✨ The examples of Mary and Hannah, women who loved deeply yet entrusted their children to God ✨ The reminder that God’s love surrounds us long before we understand the journey Through passages like Psalm 139, Jeremiah 31, Romans 8, and Isaiah 40, we reflect on the beauty and challenge of loving deeply while learning to let God carry what we cannot. If you’ve ever felt the weight of holding on too tightly—or the fear of letting go—this episode will remind you that God sees your love, your prayers, and your heart. You are not holding alone. If this reflection encouraged you, please share it with someone who may need a reminder that they are not carrying life alone. Three Generations of TN: Anne B. Ciemnecki on Advocacy, Research & Hope

What happens when trigeminal neuralgia runs through generations of a family? In this deeply personal and meaningful conversation, I speak with Anne B. Ciemnecki, MA, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Facial Pain Association (FPA), about her lived experience with trigeminal neuralgia and how it shaped her path into advocacy and service. Anne shares what it has meant to grow up in a family where three generations have been affected by trigeminal neuralgia, and how witnessing the impact of this condition firsthand inspired her to become actively involved in supporting others facing neuropathic facial pain. Her journey is not only one of resilience but also of purpose. Today, Anne plays a key role within the Facial Pain Association, helping advance research and awareness, and currently leading the FPA Facial Pain Registry initiative—an important effort that gathers patient data to help researchers better understand neuropathic facial pain and improve treatment options. In our conversation we talk about: ✨ Anne’s personal family experience with trigeminal neuralgia ✨ What living with a rare and often misunderstood condition can feel like ✨ Why community and connection matter so much for patients ✨ The work of the Facial Pain Association and the support it offers ✨ The importance of the Facial Pain Registry in advancing research ✨ Resources available for patients, families, and caregivers For many people living with trigeminal neuralgia or neuropathic facial pain, the journey can feel isolating. Anne’s story is a reminder that there is strength in community and that organizations like the Facial Pain Association are working tirelessly to ensure no one has to face this diagnosis alone. Celebrating One Year of My Memoir — And the Power of Your Story

One year ago, I released my memoir But You Look Just Fine into the world. And today, I’m pausing to reflect on what this journey has truly meant. Writing this book took years — years of courage, faith, healing, and learning how to share my story honestly. But this episode isn’t just about celebrating a book anniversary. It’s about celebrating every person who has been part of this journey — the readers, listeners, friends, and strangers who reached out to say, “Your story helped me feel less alone.” In this special anniversary episode of The Michele Roys Show, I share reflections from the past year, read a few of the beautiful reviews readers have sent, and talk about why sharing our stories matters more than we often realize. Because when one person shares their truth… someone else finds hope. 💛 In This Episode: ✨ Celebrating 1 year since the launch of my memoir But You Look Just Fine ✨ The emotional journey behind writing and sharing my story ✨ Heartfelt reader reviews that touched my heart deeply ✨ Why storytelling can bring healing and connection ✨ Encouragement for you to honour your own story You don’t have to write a book for your story to matter. How Music Heals: Nervous System Regulation & Therapy with Louise Kelly

What if music isn’t just something we enjoy… but something our nervous system needs? In this deeply grounding and illuminating episode of The Michele Roys Show, I’m joined by Louise Kelly, Consultant Music Therapist and TEDx Tralee speaker, to explore the powerful role of music as a therapeutic tool for healing, regulation, and connection. Louise’s TEDx talk, “Who Turned the Music Down?” sparked an important conversation about how rhythm, sound, and shared music-making are not luxuries—but essential regulators of our nervous system. Together, we unpack how music therapy supports emotional regulation, reduces stress, and creates connection when words are not enough—especially for those living with chronic illness, trauma, anxiety, neurodiversity, or overwhelm. ✨ In this episode, you’ll discover: Why music is biologically wired into our nervous system How music therapy differs from simply listening to music The science behind rhythm, co-regulation, and emotional safety Why music often reaches people when talk therapy cannot How music supports healing for chronic pain and invisible illness A gentle, guided music-based practice you can try in real time How music therapy is used in healthcare, schools, workplaces, and communities Connect with Louise:Louise shares her professional insights as well as deeply human stories from her work, making this conversation both evidence-based and heart-led. The Power of Slowing Down: Learning to Rest Without Guilt

What if slowing down was exactly what your body — and your soul — needs? In this gentle solo episode of The Michele Roys Show, I reflect on something many of us struggle with: resting without guilt. For years I believed that resilience meant pushing harder, doing more, and keeping up with everyone else. But living with chronic pain has taught me a very different lesson. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do… is slow down. In this episode, I share a simple but powerful image that has stayed with me — the sea turtle. It moves slowly, steadily, peacefully through the water… not rushing, not comparing, simply moving forward at its own rhythm. And maybe that’s something we can learn from. ✨ Why slowing down can actually help you move forward✨ How rest is not weakness — it’s wisdom✨ The importance of giving your body the space it needs to heal✨ How to stop comparing your pace to others✨ Practicing compassion toward yourself in seasons of overwhelm You don’t have to move at someone else’s speed. Progress doesn’t have to be fast to be meaningful. Like the sea turtle — sometimes the goal isn’t to rush ahead, but simply to keep moving forward with presence and peace. When we allow ourselves to slow down, we create space for healing, clarity, and gratitude for the progress we’ve already made. 📖 My memoir But You Look Just Fine → https://www.micheleroys.com/book 📱 Instagram → https://www.instagram.com/michroys 🎧 Listen weekly on YouTube, Spotify & Apple Podcasts

Trauma & the Nervous System: Finding Safety Again | Dr. Susanne Petche

What if your nervous system isn’t broken… but simply trying to protect you? In this deeply compassionate and insightful episode, I sit down with Dr. Susanne Petche, trauma expert, educator, and creator of the Trauma-Sense approach, to explore how trauma shapes our nervous system—and how healing becomes possible when we begin to understand it. Dr. Petche’s message is simple yet powerful: you are not broken.Your nervous system adapted to keep you safe, and with the right understanding and support, it can learn safety again. In our conversation we explore: ✨ Why trauma isn’t always about major events ✨ How unresolved trauma quietly affects our bodies and behaviour ✨ What safety actually feels like when the nervous system begins to regulate ✨ Why insight alone doesn’t always resolve trauma ✨ The hidden cost of pushing through instead of listening to the body ✨ The stories we carry that keep us stuck in survival mode We also talk about Dr. Petche’s TEDxTralee talk, where she shared the powerful message that trauma can silently shape our lives and future—and why awareness and compassion are key to breaking that cycle. Dr. Petche is the founder of Trauma-Sense, an approach that bridges neuroscience, compassion, and lived experience to help people understand their nervous system and reconnect with a sense of safety, resilience, and self-trust. This conversation is gentle, honest, and hopeful. If you’ve ever wondered why your body reacts the way it does…If you’ve felt stuck despite trying everything…Or if you’re simply curious about how the nervous system works— This episode will help you see yourself through a new lens. You are not broken. You are adapting. And healing is possible. 🔗 CONNECT WITH DR.
