What happens when you listen to the little voice telling you to create, keep going and follow what lights you up? In this inspiring episode of The Mindset Model Podcast, I’m joined all the way from Wellington, New Zealand by Japanese-Colombian clay artist Emy Oikawa for a beautiful conversation about creativity, intuition, mindset and having the courage to follow your dreams. Meet Emy Raised in Medellín, Colombia, Emy’s creative journey began at just 15 years old when an art teacher gave her some clay and simply asked her to create. While everyone else sculpted three-dimensional pieces, Emy did something completely different — she created a flat, textured piece of clay. As she was leaving the classroom, her teacher stopped her and said: “You should frame that.” One small moment of encouragement planted a seed. Emy continued experimenting, developing and refining her craft until she created her own signature textured clay art style. Today, from her home in Wellington, New Zealand, she has built a growing international art practice, creates commissions for collectors locally and internationally, runs Mindful Clay Art Workshops and has held her first solo exhibition in Wellington. Her work is described as “Soulful clay art to elevate your space and spirit” — combining nature, meaningful statements and messages of love, belief, intuition and personal transformation. But this conversation goes far beyond art. We talk about the journey behind the dream. How do you keep believing in something before you know where it's going? How do you listen to your intuition? How do you make space for creativity while navigating motherhood, business and everyday life? And what could happen if you stopped focusing on the worst possible outcome and started asking: What would I truly LOVE to happen? In this episode, we explore: How one comment from Emy’s art teacher planted the seed for her futureFollowing your creativity even when your path looks different from everyone else’sMoving from Colombia to New Zealand and building a new lifeThe journey from creating art to becoming an internationally recognised artistThe milestone of holding her first solo exhibition in WellingtonBalancing motherhood, creativity and growing a businessWhy meditation, visualisation, gratitude and breathwork are part of Emy’s lifeHow nature and the landscapes of New Zealand inspire her workLearning to trust your intuitionWhy focusing on the best possible outcome can completely shift your energyThe connection between creativity, self-belief and personal growthGiving yourself permission to follow what genuinely lights you up Your dream might be closer than you think. ✨ Connect With Emy & Discover her work Explore Emy’s soulful clay art, original pieces, prints and commissions Website: https://ecloart.nz/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ecloart/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ecloart See Emy at the Wellington Art Show!
