We’ve got the World Series! We’ve got NFL week 8! Court and CVH are bringing you their NHL Season Preview this week.  But first, there is some other business to take care of.  Producer JC is back this week as lead off with an MLB Playoffs discussion and then some quick hits on NCAA and NFL Football.  They wrap the show up with their discussion of the upcoming NHL season.  The Oilers have lots of buzz as Connor McDavid dons the Captain’s C, the Penguins’ title defense has taken an early season hit with Crosby’s recent concussion diagnosis, and the Tampa Bay Lightning look poised to bring home the Cup after near misses in the last two Playoffs.

The Most Basic Cable is going real minimal this week.  No producer, two topics.  Court and CVH are baseball fans again as the one-and-done Wild Card format leads to two incredible baseball games as the Blue Jays treat us to a walk-off blast and MBL Playoff assassin Madison Bumgarner does his thing as the Giants take down the Mets.  From baseball they hop over to NFL Week 5 as they pick against the spread and take an NFL temperature check at the quarter pole of the season.  Spoiler Alert: The NFL is more unpredictable than ever.

CVH and Court are talking loads of football this week.  The NFL has two exciting rookie QB’s, a ton of parity, and some coaches ready to get canned.  College Football has been brilliant this year and its only getting better.  This weekend features three Top-10 matchups, led by a battle of the two most electric Quarterbacks in the country when Louisville and Clemson clash on Saturday night.  CVH gives us his World Cup of Hockey update and Court, CVH, and a mic’d up Producer JC imagine a bar fight between the teams of captains leading their teams into the Ryder Cup this weekend.

Football..football as far as the eye can see….  This week’s The Most Basic Cable is football centric as CVH and Court dive into Week 3 of College Football and Week 2 of the NFL.  Early returns show that college football is “way more fun” and “worth watching”, whereas NFL football can be “kind of a drag” and is mostly “just a bunch of flags and injuries”.  From football your hosts and Producer JC move on to Hoosiers 30th anniversary and their favorite sports movies.  Finally, Court, who must’ve lost a bet or something, lets CVH give his World Cup of Hockey update.
