Dan Snow's History Hit
Otto 'Scarface' Skorzeny was the real-life version of a James Bond villain. At the height of his career, he was one of Hitler's top intelligence agents and took part in the daring rescue of Benito Mussolini from an Alpine fortress. At one point, the US military determined him to be the most dangerous man in Europe. Stuart Smith is the author of 'Otto Skorzeny: The Devil's Disciple'. He joins us to outline Skorzeny's journey from middle-class Viennese engineer to diehard Nazi and explain how he escaped internment in the post-war years to become involved in the Middle East. Produced by James Hickmann and edited by Max Carrey. Sign up to History Hit for hundreds of hours of original documentaries, with a new release every week and ad-free podcasts.
