Versus boredom where you’re numb and time just drags on. All this happens because in play mode you go back to being a kid. The most interesting games are always the most challenging ones. Take the Olympics, for example. Or MMA, the toughest sport in the world. Real play is always against opposition that’s pushing back, or against an opponent trying to stop you. Why do we love that tension so much? Because we know it’ll end in resolution, and celebration.
