Every registered hero on the continent vanished at once, in a flash of green light. No warning, no explanation. The only ones left are four applicants who hadn't been signed off yet - Gurgles the Brewster (gnome brewer-druid, will absolutely sell you a drink), Kaytag (human fighter, intense, troubled past), Yesbellis Spell (washed-up bard, fifteen years past his last hit), and Jorgina Tayloris (half-elf, unnervingly quiet) - plus Tobin Wexley, volunteer assistant intern (unpaid), who was never on the payroll and is somehow also still here. They are not qualified. They are what's available.
