I'm a Psychotherapist. He's a Criminal: Prison Didn't Reform Him... Emily Brontë Did

Danny Harkins was convicted of serious criminal offences involving coercion, intimidation, kidnapping and violence. This episode doesn’t excuse or justify that reality…. What happened in prison changed Danny…. Punishment didn’t change him….Reading did. While in prison, Danny turned to literature, specifically the novels of Emily Brontë and Charlotte Brontë. The Brontë sisters wrote about obsession, moral consequence, unchecked power, violence and the cost of uncontained desire.  Reading Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre in a prison cell becomes an encounter with the self, not an escape from it. We explore: • the psychology of serious criminality and identity collapse, • how Victorian literature can awaken conscience, • why reading can force moral reckoning where authority cannot, This episode is about criminal psychology, conscience formation, literature as moral confrontation, and the uncomfortable truth that real change begins internally or not at all. This is not a redemption story…..It is a reckoning. This is The New Mind. Where truth meets the human story… Enjoy!  Subscribe to The New Mind podcast for more uplifting and insightful conversations that explore the depths of mental health, personal growth, and inspiring stories of individuals making a difference in the world. The Pain that Made Me Become a Doctor... Dr Emma Offord's Untold Story

In this episode of The New Mind Podcast, I speak with Dr Emma Offord, clinical psychologist, trauma therapist, sensory practitioner, giftedness profiler, and founder of Divergent Life. This conversation is deeply personal, beautiful and revealing.  Emma shares her own painful story.  She speaks candidly about the slow, often uncomfortable process of realisation, identity, and change.  This episode explores the personal reckoning behind Emma’s work, and how listening to people’s stories fundamentally reshaped her understanding of care, responsibility, and harm. Emma reflects on the emotional weight of hearing how others had been failed, and how this catalysed a period of deep questioning, dismantling, and reconstruction of everything she thought she knew. How PCOS and Depression Nearly Killed Me

In this episode of The New Mind, I’m joined by Rajni. Rajni is is someone who has lived inside a body that carried pain, injury, hormonal imbalance, and emotional strain. From PCOS, a neck hernia, sciatica, and vertigo, to navigating anxiety and depression, her journey has been one of deep resilience and recalibration. What makes Rajni more powerful is her transformation. She learned how to work with her body rather than against it. Through quantified nutrition, intelligent movement, and consistent habits, she didn’t just sculpt her body. She reshaped her entire life. In this conversation, we explore what real transformation actually requires. Not drastic diets. Not punishing workouts. But understanding how the body functions, how the nervous system responds to stress, and how mental and physical health are inseparable. Rajni shares how gradual, sustainable change became the foundation of her recovery and strength, and how this philosophy now guides the way she supports others. Her mission is clear. To raise awareness around fitness, mental health, and overall wellbeing, and to help people build strength from the inside out. This episode is for anyone who feels disconnected from their body, overwhelmed by conflicting advice, or tired of being told to push harder when what they really need is clarity, compassion, and structure. 6. What She Survived Will Shock You. What She Became Will Move You.

    12/11/2025

What She Survived Will Shock You. What She Became Will Move You.

Jazzlyn’s life began in the shadows of harm. She was a child who learned cruelty before she ever learned safety. She endured sexual abuse, physical violence, and psychological terror. She was treated like something to be used rather than someone to be loved. She was passed from person to person, stripped of choice, then held hostage with a gun pressed to her head. Her life was reduced to a single question. Live or die. She chose to live. Survival was not a moment for her. It was a long and lonely ascent. It meant stitching together a mind that had been shattered. It meant rebuilding a sense of self that others had tried to erase. It meant finding a voice after years of silence. Jazzlyn’s life is not defined by what was done to her. It is defined by who she became when everything tried to break her. Today she is a woman who walks with insight, depth, and a fierce understanding of the human spirit. Her story is no longer a wound. It is a testimony. It is evidence of what a mind can become when it refuses to surrender. On The New Mind, Jazzlyn sits at the intersection of trauma and transformation. She speaks from lived experience and hard earned wisdom. She explores what happens to the brain and body when a person survives the unthinkable, and what becomes possible when healing finally begins. Her voice is steady. Her presence is grounding. Her honesty is liberation for those who have carried their own pain in silence. This is not a story of tragedy. It is a story of consciousness, reclamation, and the birth of a new mind. Jazzlyn survived. Now she teaches others how to live. This is The New Mind. Where truth meets the human story…Enjoy! Aarron Lambo: Controversy in Human Form

Aarron Lambo is controversy in human form. And in his own words…he’s “a problem.” He provokes the system and divides the public. There are those who admire him and there are those that love to hate him. As his therapist for many years, I see a version of him that the public never gets to witness. Now he is sitting across from me on The New Mind.  He is speaking with a raw honesty you have never seen before. No filters. No performance. No façade. Just Aarron in his rawest form. Will you like him after this conversation? Will you loathe him? That part is up to you… What I can guarantee is simple. You will not want to miss this episode. Expect psychology. Expect challenge. Expect vulnerability where you didn’t think you would find it. Expect the kind of conversation that forces you to question who people really are beneath their armour. This is The New Mind. 8. The Truth about Trafficking in the Adult Industry

    11/13/2025

The Truth about Trafficking in the Adult Industry

This is one of the most powerful and confronting conversations ever shared on The New Mind. Samantha Browne was trafficked into the adult industry at sixteen. Her childhood was stolen and her trauma was normalised by a world that hides exploitation behind glamour.  In this episode she speaks with clarity, courage and compassion about what really happens behind the scenes, the psychological impact on the performers and the devastating effect on viewers and relationships. Samantha reveals the truth about coercion, grooming and the hidden systems that target vulnerable young people. She explains why many performers relied on substances simply to endure the physical and emotional pain of filming. She shares the moment she lost consciousness during a scene at eighteen, the years of numb survival and the long process of rebuilding her identity after leaving the industry at twenty one. Today Samantha is a campaigner, educator and advocate for child protection. She created Diamond You Projects to teach children and families how predators operate, how grooming works and how to stay safe in a digital world. She also uses research to expose the real effects of pornography on the brain, intimacy, desire and the breakdown of connection in relationships. This episode will change the way you understand exploitation. It will teach you how to protect young people and it will inspire you with the strength of a survivor who reclaimed her life. Listen closely. Share widely. Silence protects abusers. Truth protects children.
