The Nostalgia Pit

Colin Casserd and Rob Snow

The Nostalgia Pit is a podcast aiming to dissect pop culture, the subconscious, and other psychological phenomena through a hyperbolic and prismatic lens. Hosted by Rob Snow and Colin Casserd, the Nostalgia Pit is available anywhere you find your podcasts. Nostalgia is so often thought of as something great from our childhood... But this psychological pitfall can sometimes have massive effects on our decision making. Our goal here is to discuss these areas where morals and ethics blur and the warm feelings of childhood take over. Oh, and to talk some shit... Produced by Colin Casserd

    The 27 Club

The para-social relationship that with we have with celebrities is perhaps the deepest and strongest with artists. Those who put their emotionality into a consumable product in order for others to take a better peek into the human experience. Art has the capacity to take an emotional situation that largely takes place on a personal level (in our own head) and express it so that others can not only relate to it, but find a tribe of like minded individuals, thus, removing the weight of supposed isolation. Janis Joplin. Jimi Hendrix. Jim Morrison. Kurt Cobain. There are so many great artists that we lost early, and coincidentally, a handful of notable people died at the same age within a short period of time. That age was of course 27. We decided to learn about the history of the 27 Club, the members, and a few possible explanations. That's right! It's Probin' Time! Slippin' Into Darkness...

Welp! We managed to slip ALL THE WAY into darkness for this one. Just like little Alan Parrish slipped into the jungle some call Jumanji and be stuck there for 26 whole years in total darkness. That's 6894.5 days alone and being hunted... Holy mackerel, how did we not realize how dark this 1995 film starring Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst really was?! It's Probin' Time! And that's not even the depths of the Pit this week. We also look into a seemingly meaningless name that most people have never come across, only to find the unnecessary honoring of one a man up for the Worst Human All Time award. That man is William S. Harney, an excessively violent racist that took pleasure in being at the forefront of the theft of this land from the indigenous people of this land. We don't go too deep into details, but still, trigger warning. Y2K: The Ultimate Anticlimax

Holy nostalgia, Batman! This one is packed to the gills with everything from the turn of the 21st century, including but limited to nu metal, boy bands, SpongeBob, JNCO jeans, TRL, low rise jeans, the dot com bubble, and of course, Y2K. That's not all of course. We also recap our recent watch of the 1974 cult classic film Zardoz starring Sean Connery, Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, and the highlights from Rob's most recent tour opening for the east coast rap duo ShrapKnel. PLUS: Colin does a Limited Recall on Steven Segal's 1992 hit movie: Under Siege.
