    101. [WW] Add this practice to your exercise routine to AMPLIFY your results!

This week, we are breaking down the benefits of time under tension and focusing on slowing down during your resistance training. So many of us are only focused solely on calories burned that we blow through our workouts and try and get each movement done as quickly as possible. The reality is that SLOWER is truly the way to FASTER growth. Growth in terms of efficiency, building lean muscle, improving form, mastering complex movements, and getting strong. As an added bonus, slowing down will also decrease your risk of injury and improve recovery time. That is pretty powerful if you ask me.

    98. [WW] There is no GROWTH without resistance: A metaphor from the Biosphere 2

    98. [WW] There is no GROWTH without resistance: A metaphor from the Biosphere 2

This week, we have a pep talk style conversation inspired by the Biosphere 2. Sounds out there, I know. But I think you will vibe with this idea. The Biosphere is essentially an artificial, controlled environment built inside of a dome which includes various types of ecosystems. It is designed for research and experimentation, and one piece of information that they discovered upon its inception was all about TREES! The trees planted inside of the sphere would grow to a certain height and then topple over. After investigating, researchers discovered that the trees needed wind in order to properly grow and develop, otherwise they were too weak to survive. As you can imagine, this can be a powerful metaphor for the human journey. Lets talk about it!

    97. [INTERVIEW] Expanding your career away from the bedside: A conversation about nurse entrepreneurship and personal growth with Steph from Shift Change RN

    97. [INTERVIEW] Expanding your career away from the bedside: A conversation about nurse entrepreneurship and personal growth with Steph from Shift Change RN

This is one for the books! This week we chat with Steph Kamataris, the owner of Shift Change RN!! This conversation was such a blast, and honestly, SO relatable. We discussed everything from building a business to occupational health nursing. There is something in this one for ANYONE.

A little background: Steph Kamataris is a nurse entrepreneur who owns Shift Change RN, a business that helps nurses and nursing students succeed at the bedside.  Steph started her healthcare journey in 2015 as a cardiac tech and began her nursing career in the Cardiac ICU.  She transitioned to the Cath Lab and continues to work there alongside her occupational health job.  She has a Master's degree in Public Health and is certified in critical care.  Steph has appeared on multiple podcasts and has been invited to speak to numerous nursing groups.

    96. [WW] NEWS FLASH: You can't HATE yourself healthy

    96. [WW] NEWS FLASH: You can't HATE yourself healthy

Let's face it, diet culture has infiltrated our lives. We have been bombarded with the "new-quick-fix," the "lose-20lbs-in -2-weeks," the "7-day-juice-cleanse," or the "cut-out-an-entire-food-group-to-achieve-food-freedom" BS for TOO LONG. And here's the deal, if these programs work for you and feel sustainable, great! But more often than not, diet culture focuses on restriction, elimination, deprivation, and removal. Diet culture is about what to subtract, rather than what to add. And ultimately, this leads us down a path that diminishes self-love and promotes self-hatred. Because that hatred means you will keep coming back for a new quick fix. Its a revolving door that sells.

But I want to talk about how we can break free from this pattern, and start to ditch the diet culture. I want us to get to the point where our growth and progress are fueled by our love for ourselves, rather than guilt or shame. Enough is enough. You are worth more than this. Remember, you are human first, so let's love that human to HEALTH.
