The Gut Microbiome: What It Is, How it Impacts Health, and How we Can Support It
In this episode of the podcast, we are discussing the gut microbiome. The gut and the microbiome have gotten a lot of attention over the last 10 years and for good reason. Our digestive system plays a vital role in our overall health and dysfunctional digestion can lead to a variety of health problems.
One of the most fascinating aspects of our digestive health is the microbes that live in our gut which refer to as our "gut microbiome". These communities of microbes make a home out of our intestinal tract and are responsible for helping us to digesting and absorbing nutrients from our food food and they also synthesize some nutrients and neurotransmitters, help to regulate our immune system and more.

I found Dr. Chavez on Instagram and heard about the podcast. I listened to two episodes and went back to the beginning and have listened to so many episodes so far. He not only shares valuable information, but also the research behind it. The more I listen to people on social media, the more I got confused about what I should be eating. After listening to him, I feel much more confident about what I should eat, and the lifestyle that goes along with it to be healthy.
I have been wanting to educate myself more on nutrition and am so glad I found this podcast. I went through a few others that didn’t seem reputable at all. All of your points are very realistic and sustainable. I like how in a couple episodes you mentioned crash diets being pointless because Lord knows I’ve been on that roller coaster and never want to back. Very helpful and insightful.
Great tips and resources
I love this podcast so much, he gives such great information and tips. I especially like the Q&A episodes. He answers all of the questions in quick episodes. There is no fear mongering and if he isn’t knowledgeable in an area he will say so and gives other people to follow in the areas that can help. The episodes are short and to the point.
