After recapping the new federal legalization bill, Scott is joined by friend of the show, Luke Jones, the Executive DIrector of Maryland NORML, for discussion around the path forward in the wake of the failure of the legislature to pass adult use cannabis legalization in MD, plans for a 2022 ballot referendum, and how to respond to lobbying efforts and political donations being made to MD elected officials, by multistate operators and other medical cannabis operators in the state.

This week, Scott is joined by local cannabis policy reform advocate, Martin Mitchell, who serves as President of the Prince George's CountyYoung Democrats, and is a candidate for City Council in Laurel, MD. Martin and Scott discuss next steps for cannabis reform in Maryland in the wake of the disappointing 2021 legislative session  and what is next for Virginia and D.C. for the rest of 2021.

For this special episode, and in observance of the federal recognition of Juneteenth, host Scott Cecil attended a Juneteenth pop-up event in Colmar Manor, Maryland, a small town just outside of Washington DC. You’ll hear a series of micro-interviews with attendees, vendors from the event, elected officials, and even a few children from the crowd. Scott is joined by first-time guest, and writer for the Outlaw Report dot com, Gaspard Le Dem to discuss the Biden Administration's inclusion of the "Harris rider" in its  FY2022 budget proposal. Which, if ultimately included in the budget, would continue to prevent D.C. from setting up a regulated adult-use cannabis market. They discuss the potential ramifications of this move and the implications it may have for the D.C. statehood movement.

Scott is joined by Sebi Medina-Tayac, a local D.C. activist, legacy cannabis grower, and indigenous rights advocate. Sebi and Scott have an in-depth discussion around legacy growers in D.C. and how to integrate the I-71 market into any future adult-use legalization regime from the D.C. Mayor and Council. They also talk about the craft cannabis market and how that is being impacted by large multi-state operators.
