352: Expert Edition: Dr Dan Plews. Low CHO diet: Right Fuel-Right Time Approach

352: Expert Edition: Dr Dan Plews. Low CHO diet: Right Fuel-Right Time Approach

Dr Dan Plews is a World Acclaimed Scientist, Applied Exercise Physiologist and Long-Course Triathlon Coach, he recently coached the current 2022 Ironman World Champion Chelsea Sodaro to victory.
Scientifically, Dr Plews has over 30 peer reviewed publications to his name and has worked with more than 25 world and Olympic title winning athletes across a variety of sports.
I spent time with Dr Dan Plews in New Zealand at the Endure IQ Headquarters alongside his athlete Javier Gomez, and we discussed ‘How does a long course triathlete best optimise their fat oxidation whilst doing it safely to ensure daily energy requirements are met and what are the upsides to this approach?’. I watched Dan train in person, he lives and breathes this and the results speak for themselves.

350: Expert Edition: Kristina Skroce & Howard Zisser (MD) ‘Continuous Glucose Monitoring for Health & Performance’

Back on episode 344 we featured Phil Sutherland, who shared the backstory of continuous glucose monitoring in the formation of Super Sapiens. Many of us now recognise the black disks now being worn on the back of the triceps of many of the planet's greatest endurance athletes, that is the Super Sapiens (CGM) continuous glucose monitoring device.
In this episode Dr Howard Zisser and his Super Sapiens colleague Kristina Skroce, Sports Physiologist, dive deeper and explain how this technology and science has morphed from the world of health care into the world of performance, and what CGM may look like in the decade ahead for both healthcare and sporting performance.

What I have come to expect

With Brad Beer I have come to expect a level of quality that if to be achieved takes a level of commitment that only few can aspire to.
Brad knocks it out of the park time and time again with his podcast but also in his core business.

Powerful Performance Podcast!

I am finally paying my dues for so many hours of amazing content. The Physical Performance show features amazing guests from the sporting world, be they top performers, experts in their field or coaches. I enjoy all of these as there is always something new to learn or a common theme grasped among performers or coaches. I find the expert editions very informative as an “older” age group competitor in keeping me performing at my physical best. I wish I had Mick Hughes episode available when I tore my ACL! But the best aspect is learning the mental skills from athletes and coaches, which is so important in sport. I also coach youth runners from 10 – 18 and occasionally advise adults. The show’s wealth of content has been invaluable to me. I must share that I love the opening theme audio. Being a race junky, I can literally feel adrenaline flow if I let myself get carried away with the theme. The Pogo Physio site and Brad’s book (I have the first edition) are also tremendous resources. Alas that Australia is halfway around the world or I would be a client! Cheers Brad for your great work and blessings on your continued work! Thanks to all those who make the show possible!
