    Do you believe in second chances of life?   The readers in the Ephesian Church were taught to "radically" put off then old person because that is what is required to become believers in Jesus Christ - to terminate the old life style and put on the new self or new life style. This is what Paul was teaching the Ephesian believers/Church in Eph. 4:22. The putting off of the former life-style is difficult, but doable if one desires to be real with his/her relationship with Christ Jesus. This is literally taking place behind the walls in the maximum prison. Today's episode is very special to me. I, in fact, have a privilege to work with men in the maximum prison, and see God changing their lives. "Renowned evangelist Billy Graham has said that when God grants someone a second chance at living, it's to remind them of his love -- and of the brevity of life." - Link God is at work in the prison.     TPS Episode 006 Why Does the Septuagint say "Mighty Counselor of God" in Isaiah 9:6? An Interview with Dr. Michael Heiser.

    In the Septuagint (Old Testament in the Greek Language), a phrase in Isaiah 9:6 is rendered as "Mighty Counselor of God," when the Hebrew Text says, "Mighty God." Why is that? How can we better understand this verse?   In this episode, Dr. Heiser explains what is Septuagint, how reliable it is, and answers the question: Why Septuagint says "Mighty Counselor of God" in Isaiah 9:6 when the Hebrew Text says "Mighty God"?   Some claim that Christ is NOT God based on the Septuagint rendering.   Dr. Heiser explains this issue.   Dr. Michael S. Heiser is a Scholar-in-Residence for Faithlife Corporation, the makers of Logos Bible Software. His varied academic background enables him to operate in the realm of critical scholarship and the wider Christian community.   Dr. Heiser earned his PhD in Hebrew Bible and Semitic languages and holds an MA in ancient history and Hebrew studies. He is the coeditor of Old Testament Greek Pseudepigrapha with Morphology and Semitic Inscriptions: Analyzed Texts and English Translations, and can do translation work in roughly a dozen ancient languages, including Biblical Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Egyptian hieroglyphs, and Ugaritic cuneiform.     In this Episode, Pastor Dan Hanshew and I (Joel Madasu) discuss the important topic: Why learning biblical languages is important.   Assumptions:   A pastor is a teacher of the Bible A pastor is responsible before the Lord of what he teaches. A Pastor’s goal should be to try in his study to get back as close as he can to the primary source.   Pros:   Dealing with sources close to the primary sources - not tied with anyone’s translation. If you know the original languages, you don’t have to rely on other interpretations. It allows you to see some nuances of the text. It allows the pastor to see the grammatical and syntactical outline. It often allows the pastor to focus more on his work.   Cons:   Takes dedication Takes time to learn languages When you know languages, it can make sermon preparation laborious, and time-consuming. With hard work, they tend to communicate what the text says.
