    League of American Bicyclists with Bill Nesper

    In this episode, we explore the League of American Bicyclists. For generations past and to come, the League of American Bicyclists is the grassroots movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone. Through education, advocacy and promotion, we work to celebrate and preserve the freedom cycling brings to our members everywhere. Executive Director Bill Nesper, first joined the League in 2002 and brings a depth of knowledge of all of the League’s programs and work throughout the country. Bill started at the League as a membership assistant and since has directed the Smart Cycling and Bicycle Friendly America Programs before being appointed Executive Director. A national leader in bicycle programming, planning, and policy, Bill has supported local and state advocacy, led workshops for local communities across the country, and contributed to bicycling policy and planning guidance at all levels. As Executive Director, Bill has a passion for supporting the incredible League staff, building stronger partnerships, and making the League more effective at building a Bicycle Friendly America for Everyone. He holds a BA in History from the University of Florida and an MA from George Mason University.     Let's Get Regional, Regional...MPOs with Ellen Zavisca

    Metropolitan Planning Organizations are an important partner in the transportation planning world. But, not everyone is familiar with they responsibilities and overall roll. Ellen Zavisca is the Transportation Planning Manager for AMPO, where she coordinates their interest group webinars and administers the ActivitySim model. Prior to taking that position, she served as staff at the MPO in Knoxville, TN, for 18 years where her focus as an MPO planner was on safety for all modes of transportation, multimodal planning, Safe Routes to School, and the health impacts of transportation. Her projects have included creating multiple pedestrian and bicycle plans; building databases and maps of traffic crashes in the Knoxville region; and rejuvenating the Great Smoky Mountains Regional Greenway Council. She is certified by the League of American Bicyclists as a bicycle safety instructor and is a member of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals. She has a master’s degree in urban planning from University of Illinois-Chicago.
