Pop Culture Retrospective

Amy Lewis

Join me as we board a time machine and travel back to the retro pop culture of the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s! On each episode, I take a deep dive into the backstory behind topics such as music, tv shows, movies, technology, regrettable fashions, and events from this unique period of time. This show is inspired by and dedicated to the memory of my older sister, Rebecca who I lost tragically in 2019. I want to learn the back story, the story behind the story, the hidden secrets, and fun facts of all of the things that she was into. This show is my love letter to my big sister. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s will want to tune in! Follow me on social media! #114 - A conversation with John Abendshein, author of: “Home But Alone No More.”

Send us a text Thank you for tuning in! In today's episode, I am joined by John Abendshein, author of "Home But Alone No More: A Memoir From the Owner of the House That Made Movie History." John lived in the famous "Home Alone" house before, during, and after the filming of the holiday classic. In his book, he shares how this came about, the aftermath following the film's release, and why this movie continues to resonate with viewers more than three decades after its initial release.  In this episode, I get to interview John and ask him several questions ranging from Home Alone trivia to Would You Rather - Chicago version, and I also challenge him to answer a few pop culture questions related to events in 1990.  It was a pleasure chatting with John and I highly recommend his book!  Check out John's website here. #112 - ‘80s and ’90s music videos featuring warehouses & scaffolding.

Send us a text Thank you for tuning in!  On today's episode, we are taking a look back at some infamous music videos from the 1980s and 1990s that feature warehouses and scaffolding as the setting.  I realize this episode is a bit niche, but I think you will appreciate the focus on some memorable music videos.   This episode is marked as explicit because I quote a few lyrics from Queen Latifah's song UNITY which has some adult language in it. I mentioned my recent guest appearance on an awesome podcast called "Pop Culture Reflections."  You can find this show here. If you love listening to music from the 80s and 90s, as well as podcasts related to pop culture during these fabulous decades, check out the app Q106.5.  There you will find links to my show and many other awesome podcasts, as well as the ability to listen to some tunes from yesteryear :) I also referenced a few of my older episodes on this one: Learn about Madonna's incredible rise to fame here. Learn about Michael Bolton and why he is such an icon here. Support the show Visit: https://www.popcultureretrospective.com/ for all things Pop Culture Retrospective!
