The ZOOM Alternative - and its soooo much better

As an Audio Engineer, I'm constantly puzzled as to why ZOOM has any place in the recording process. Crap sound, no chance of ever syncing pictures with audio, and to top it off they expect me to pay a premium for a lousy service...
Well, Robbo has found an alternative, that delivers all the above and more...
A big shout out to our sponsors, Austrian Audio and Tri Booth. Both these companies are providers of QUALITY Audio Gear (we wouldn't partner with them unless they were), so please, if you're in the market for some new kit, do us a solid and check out their products, and be sure to tell em "Robbo, George, Robert, and AP sent you"... As a part of their generous support of our show, Tri Booth is offering $200 off a brand-new booth when you use the code PAP200. So get onto their website now and secure your new booth...

And if you're in the market for a new Mic or killer pair of headphones, check out Austrian Audio. They've got a great range of top-shelf gear..

    NT1 v NTG 5

We had a letter from a listener asking about recording Audio Books and our thoughts on using an NTG 5 v an AT 1. Having had vast experience with both, the guys took a deep dive into the why's and wherefore's of both...

Source Connect on a 5G/4G Connection

Source Connect on a 5G/4G Connection

Whilst it's true you can't use source connect on your 4 or 5G device, it seems you CAN still use a hotspot to use the same networks for your source connect session.
When we spoke with Richie from Studious the other week about APs new studio computer, he mentioned that he had figured out a way to make it work. Once we had talked Robert down from a jealousy frenzy, we decided to record an episode and get Richie to lay out his workaround.
Is he on a winner according to one of Source Elements' founders and chief techs? Well, you'll have to listen to find out!!

Setting up your Apollo to work with Zoom for Voice Over Sessions...

Setting up your Apollo to work with Zoom for Voice Over Sessions...

One is possibly one of the most used studio interfaces on the planet. The other is strangely one of the most popular ways to connect to record Professional voiceovers outside of Hollywood. The problem is getting them to play nicely together is not as easy as you might think. Whilst Robbo is convinced the easiest solution and most professional is a copy of NEXUS, George has come up with a neat little workaround that gets you where you need to be to use both at their highest potential without the cost of extra software...

Indispensable Resource for the VO Pro

This podcast is an essential resource for the working professional voice actor. In today’s world of home audio recording studios (Home Studios) that need to be clean sounding and deliver professional quality recordings to some of the most demanding clients, this podcast provides you with specific information and actionable data that will either keep you at the top of your game, or get you there if that’s what you need. And even the episodes that don’t specifically appear to be what I am researching that day (or THINK I need), I always, and let me reinforce that, ALWAYS learn something new that can help me with my craft. Of the numerous podcasts that help me run my full-time VO business, this is at the top of the list of my three “must listen” resources. Oh, and the format and presentation of this podcast makes you feel like you’re “in the club“. It’s brilliant. It makes me happy when I see a new episode is available.

One of my favorites

When these guys get together, you get to hear a fun and realistic discussion of all parts of the VO industry. I always learn something and have a great time listening. The global viewpoint is unique and excellent. Also, it’s nice to listen to a podcast without a sales agenda!
