Podcast Downloads, The Best Way to Read Yours

Podcast Downloads, The Best Way to Read Yours

"How much money do you make?" It's one of those questions that tend to make a lot of people uncomfortable at a dinner party. "How many downloads does your podcast have?..." elicits the same squirmy feeling in podcasters.

In today's episode, we're talking about the best way to read your podcast downloads - and we're covering it all! I'm walking you through the stats that are most important for your show, talking about a quirk that all new podcasters experience, and I'm sharing with you some personal stats for my downloads.

I'm also addressing that we all - as a collective podcast community - need to get more comfortable talking about podcast downloads. (Don't worry, I'm calling myself out on not producing enough content related to our stats!)

So join me in an honest discussion about podcast downloads and why those numbers are important.

Speaking on Stages, Lessons Learned from Decades of Talking

Speaking on Stages, Lessons Learned from Decades of Talking

"I just woke up and I was incredible on stage!" said the so-called public speaking expert. Um, I'm going to have to disagree.

Maybe that is the journey some people experience when they hop on stage, behind the camera, or nail their first interview. But that wasn't my experience.

I've had a gradual progression of stage presence throughout my life that - I believe - has prepared me for the world we're living in today where a "stage" could be showing up live using your phone.

In today's episode, I'm walking you through my evolution of speaking on stages and how each milestone has played a pivotal role in my journey. There are some pretty braggadocious opportunities I've had in the last 12 months and then some are so embarrassing that I'm trying to pretend I don't really know the younger version of myself.

But each stage has been an opportunity for me:
an opportunity to learnan opportunity to growan opportunity to networkan opportunity to figure out my messageSo join me on this winding journey of speaking on stages.

Behind the Scenes: PodFest Masterclass Talk

Behind the Scenes: PodFest Masterclass Talk

"I want to speak on more stages in 2021!" It's the phrase that kept circulating in my head as I set my yearly goals in December 2020.  And I can tell you, we're already off to a great start!

Not only did I just wrap up one of the most energizing and fantastic talks I've ever done, but I also felt more confident in the entire process.

So in today's episode, I'm breaking down exactly how I pitched myself for my recent talk at PodFest Masterclass, the things I learned along the way, and the resources that helped me show up with confidence when it was my turn to "take the stage".

I'm also sharing with you practical tips that I learned from my speaking coach, Heather Sager, and her program Speak Up to Level Up to create my pitch, tell better stories, and nail my message!

This is an episode where you need to bring out the notebooks and whip out the Google Doc if you're thinking about speaking on stages - virtual and in-person.

How to Speak Confidently on a Podcast, with Heather Sager

How to Speak Confidently on a Podcast, with Heather Sager

We've talked about public speaking before here on the podcast, but today's conversation is slightly different. I wanted you to really understand the difference between being able to speak in front of people vs. making an impact on your audience.

That's why I invited my friend and Speaking Coach, Heather Sager, for a live chat in our community. During our conversation, we talked about how most new podcasters struggle with staying clear on their message and how to overcome this.

With Heather being a podcaster herself, she knew we needed some tactical tips to show up with more confidence behind the mic but also how to prepare before recording an episode so you can spend less time editing or re-recording your show afterward.

This interview was a hit with the live audience and I know you'll gain some valuable tips too! Enjoy this incredible chat with Heather!

How to Run a Podcast Review Giveaway

How to Run a Podcast Review Giveaway

"How in the world does a podcast review giveaway work?" A question I get asked all the time by my students and members of our community. And to be honest, I had the exact same question too. "How does it all work?"

So, I went into "Dr. Podcast" mode and started creating a scientific experiment. (I know, I get geekier by the second, but hear me out!) I wanted to see what happens when an influx of reviews comes to my show. I also wanted to share with podcasters that reviews can mean so much more than just a bump in the charts.

In today's episode, I'm breaking down my thought process behind running the giveaway, practical setup tips if you thinking this is the right move for your podcast, and sharing some of the things I've already learned.

We'll also be doing a few debrief pieces of content once our podcast review giveaway -- that we're right in the middle of -- is finished. So get out your notebooks and get ready to take some notes listening to today's episode.
