Ep. 103 – Finding your zone of genius

    SEASON FINALE
When you find your zone of genius, you find your flow, you find what you truly came here to do in this given moment.
The zone of genius concept is not mine, it belongs to Gay Hendricks and I do strongly recommend you read his book The Big Leap, to fully understand it.
To find our zone we have to go out play, test, and learn, and I believe sometimes get it wrong in order to get it right.
I love the concept as it reinforces the mindset that there is room for us all, we are all unique, and individual, and the competition we feel and perceive is false.
We can struggle to find it, especially if we are being called to do something radically different from where we currently find ourselves.
Societal beliefs can often see us conforming to paths away from our zone!  The weight of I ‘should do this’, weighs heavy on us all.
our zone of genius is that place where you feel totally lit up, where if it’s work it certainly doesn’t feel like it.
We all have this place, and my mission is to guide more women to do what lights them up and find their zone.

Ep. 102 – Why scarcity mindset is keeping us small

Ep. 102 – Why scarcity mindset is keeping us small

After an incredible week where I launched my new “Ideas to Action” in-person coaching workshop this was the message that came through loud and strong to share on my podcast this week:

    Scarcity is a lie.

A lie that drives fear, and non-action, and at its worst causes us to be unkind and make judgements of others.

All of this negative energy keeps us small and blocks the flow of money and joy to us.

    What we focus on expands.

Other female entrepreneurs doing what you want to do, and having success are not stealing anything from you, they simply lead the way.

There is room for us all.

Scarcity is a lie, fed to keep us small, it’s time to wake up and start questioning all that we currently believe about what is and isn’t possible.

Once again I know none of what I say this week is easy to hear, I have been there resenting another woman’s success, and not responding with kindness.

As I evolve I am coming to accept that I am here for these difficult conversations, delivered with love and empathy, because THIS IS the stuff as a woman, as a human being, that I work through too.

As my podcast moves into its 3rd year, 2nd season, these are the conversations and topics you will hear a lot more of.

Working through the beliefs and programming that seek to suppress us is not easy, it’s virtually impossible to do this stuff alone, yet that’s what we opt for.

Here’s my invitation to you to stop going it alone, let’s work together:

The 3 reasons why you are under-charging

The 3 reasons why you are under-charging

Episode 101 – The 3 reasons why you are under-charging

After several conversations this week around prices and money I felt compelled to discuss this topic today.

Truth is your relationship with money and money mindset is an ongoing practice, one I am still very much working with alongside you.

But the more we wake up to the conditioning and programming that has sought to keep women small, to keep money out of our hands, the more we can lead the way for future generations.

None of it is easy, sorry!

    But here’s why you’re under-charging:

Thousands of years of conditioning from the patriarchal system taught us that money was not something we could have or should want.  We see the impact of this in the statistics of wealth in men versus women.  This system is crumbling away, and we have to seriously start to question what we’ve been told.

We’re all just copying each other and victims of comparison.  We’re all undercharging and comparing ourselves and resistant to being the most expensive.  What if you broke the norm for your industry, what if you led the way?

As yoga teachers, soul-led entrepreneurs we are doing what we do because we are passionate about our profession and want to use our gifts and skills to help people.  And getting tangled into feeling bad about asking for money for this is why you’re undercharging and heading for burnout.

I know none of what I say today is easy, but let it go in, and then do me a favour, go back over your facts and figures and I’ll put money on the fact you need to charge more!

Add into the mix it is virtually impossible to do this stuff alone, yet that’s what we opt for.

Ep. 100 – Navigating a world of free yoga classes

Ep. 100 – Navigating a world of free yoga classes

Eek I won’t lie today’s episode isn’t an easy discussion to have, but you know me I am here for it all, and sometimes we need to hear the difficult things.
I had a lovely teacher reach out on Instagram who’s experiencing a situation that ALL of us would feel rubbish about, including myself.
It’s that topic of contrast, the stuff we don’t want to experience.  But it’s the stuff we need, I’m going to say it’s the stuff that gives birth to our dreams!
When something happens that is causing us a problem, pain or discomfort, there’s only so long we can carry on and ignore it.  It’s there to help us grow, develop and move on to that next bigger thing.
I know how easy it is to be annoyed with all the ‘free’ yoga out there.
But what if there’s room for us all, the free classes, the paid classes, the lower and the higher priced?
What if free yoga meant that people who can’t afford to come to a paid class can do yoga, that has to be a good thing.
It doesn’t mean you have to give away free yoga, but it’s not the reason why you are struggling to fill your paid offers.
Charge what you want for your yoga classes, be the most expensive kid on the block, give away a free weekly class and everywhere in between.  It doesn’t matter, what matters you are behind you and what you do.
I am grateful for all the free yoga out there (sorry guys if that’s not what you wanted me to say!)

Ep. 99 – Yoga studio ownership

Ep. 99 – Yoga studio ownership

I feel like I’ve been promising you this episode for a while!

Today I share my experiences of owning two yoga studios, and the good, the bad, and the ugly truth of it all.

I completely understand the desire of owning your own space and all the joy that this can bring, but DO NOT sign on the dotted line until you know your numbers.

The yoga studios smashing it in 2024 are the ones going beyond the scope of a weekly schedule, they’re the ones that are building a community around the physical space, and who then buy into everything the studio has to offer.

If you are a studio owner or are thinking of embarking on setting up a studio and would like my help, you can hear from today’s episode I know what I’m talking about drop me an email at info@amy-yoga.com and we can discuss how best I can help you know your numbers, and create a plan for success.

    Ep. 98 – Break A Norm

    Ep. 98 – Break A Norm

Today’s episode is inspired by the wisdom of Stephen Braybrook, aka the Movement Man, who lost his battle to Pancreatic cancer way too young in 2023.

I trained with Stephen a handful of times but he was one of those people who left a HUGE imprint on me and his relentless questioning of conventional wisdom when it came to how the human body actually worked backed up with sound scientific research lit me up!

His advice that never left me -  “break a norm”.

It ties into one of my favourite sayings ‘definition of madness is doing the same thing expecting a different result’.

Whatever you are stuck or frustrated with, whatever you want to change right now if you don’t break a norm and do something different from what you are currently doing then stuck is where you will stay.

    Mentoring for Yoga Teachers

If you’re a yoga teacher I ask you to break a norm and instead of doing more training I invite you to invest in my mentoring programme, this will really make a difference to your skill as a teacher and a business owner.  Not to mention it is a 100-hour accredited further training course.

My flagship Prosperous Yogini Mentoring programme doors are open from 22nd to 30th April.  I welcome cohorts 2 times a year to develop their skills as yoga teachers and business owners.

If you find the doors close do add your name to the wait list - https://amy-yoga.com/prosperous-yogini-programme/
