Ep. 157 Good Taste by Caroline Scott
What is traditional English cuisine? With all the influences from former colonies, cultural influences, and the rise of imported food, this is the question our protagonist, Stella, seeks to answer. Listen to this fun conversation with author Caroline Scott, the author of "Good Taste,” a historical culinary travelogue about food, Englishness, and a woman's journey in a society with limited opportunities. We also had so much fun creating a quintessential English menu that we think Stella would approve of, and we hope you will try it.

Customer Reviews
Wonderful
I am loving this podcast!! Great recommendations, author interviews, and great tips! I adore Victoria’s voice, it’s calm, cheerful and so pleasant.
Bring Back the Games, Drop the TBT Episodes
I’ve been listening from the beginning and this latest season is different. Victoria is focusing more on reading tips, which is fine, but that’s what her newsletter is about. I’ve noticed that though the Reading Guide encompasses most genres, the podcast focuses mainly on interviews with authors of either romance, historical fiction, or general fiction. I’d love to hear the same variety in podcast content as there is on the reading guide. I’m a genre-jumper, and the same type of book genre promotion starts to feel bland as a listener.
However, in the past, I’ve picked up books I never would have otherwise, based on the interviews alone, with varying results of enjoyment. I rarely regret reading a book, so even if I don’t enjoy one, I’m glad I gave it a try. I do miss the author-themed games Victoria used to do. They were cute and fun, and gave a glimpse of improv banter rather than scripted interviews.
Since the seasons are so short (and there are only three so far), and Victoria added a second weekly episode about reading habits, I don’t think the TBT episodes are necessary. It’s my personal opinion, but I don’t feel there is enough content to merit a TBT drop each week, and it’s a bit of an over saturation in my weekly feed.
Love This Podcast
I love these recommendations and the calm voice that shares the reviews. Thank you Victoria!
