Not a perfect cinematic review pod, and I LOVE IT!
Don’t come here for deeper-than-surface level takes on Hollywood filmmaking, yet if you love movie watching, you’ll really enjoy this pod.
I want to recommend that they start working in new releases in a series called “The Newly Rewatchables” and start to plug some new movies. Like I just watched “Nobody” after listening to a bunch of Rewatchables action movie episodes, and I think Nobody would be great as an instantly Rewatchables film. Maybe switch up the categories and boom, new stream of content. Plus it’s a way to plug the new movies, like what if Bon Odenkirk sat in to this episode about Nobody? Could be an awesome promotional tool that consumers like me will enjoy.
I’ve heard arguments about union labor at the Ringer, and diversity of guests is always an issue when the host is a wealthy Caucasian male. Those are all real issues, not to be taken lightly. I don’t know the details to comment on any of that, but I have noticed some effort in the past year of even more diversity of guests, which is a good sign. I can’t comment about labor relations at a boutique magazine-inspired LA entertainment Web site, but I would say I hear a diversity of voices and personalities represented overall. The whole world could be more diverse & less overtly racist; I don’t think The Ringer is ground zero of that battle.
I’ve heard the younger staffers would like more chances to be on this show. Couldnt there just be more Rewatchables? I’m down. Bill is pretty good at action movies and blockbusters, but his opinion kinda falters when the convo goes into cinematography. Yet, he is a die hard film appreciator, and his opinions aren’t totally cringey, just kinda obvious at times.
Overall, I love the show. Make more of them!
I had no idea what I was missing until this podcast reviewed Manhunter. What a great one! Thank you Rewatchables !
Thanks for making me go watch this today… What a great flick by the way it’s available on HBO max. Too many one-liners to even mention one
