    The Science Behind Sewing and Fiber Arts

Callie Palmer and Lavender Krupp talk to teacher/creator, Mrs. Allison Mills, about this foundational course that weaves together crafting, culture, environmental science, art, and hands-on craftsmanship to explore the fascinating world of textiles. The conversation covers how students don’t just learn how to sew in this class - they investigate the science of plant and animal fibers, research real-world careers in fiber arts, and experiment with local plants to create natural dyes. From hand stitching and machine sewing to fiber processing and sustainable textile labs, this course blends innovation with tradition.
