The Runthrough

I’m a fairly/new casual figure skating fan, and I really look forward to new episodes of this podcast. Adam and Ashley especially have a really great flow and understand each others’ humor really well. There isn’t a ton of technical skating talk, but I don’t mind that since I don’t know that much about skating technique. But there are plenty of other podcasts where you can find more technical based content if that’s youre thing. This particular show is great when you just need to laugh. I don’t have any other friends who watch skating, so it’s really fun to feel like I’m part of Ashley, Adam, and Sarah’s conversations.

I’m at the gym here in San Francisco listening to the latest Runthrough. It is Adam solo and it is a classic. When he talked about some ISU website, on the near-eve of the Grand Prixe finals, that the top Japanese woman’s skater’s hobby was listed as “drive”, I fell off the treadmill laughing. Oh lLord, Adam, you need to do more solo shows, no disrespect to Ashley and Sarah. When Adam talked about the ice dancers and Lewis Gibson’s (sp?) hobby being “tanning” and Lyla’s Fear’s hobby “chatting with strangers” and also the French female redhead’s headshot being cut off at the top, I fell off the treadmill again. Oh man. Adam. Wow. You slay.

I’m a big fan of this podcast because I don’t have anyone to talk about skating with in my real life. I listen to every episode. Sometimes I wish Adam and Ashley would, I don’t know, maybe make an episode outline and try to stick to it, especially for competition recap shows. Free-ranging discussion is lots of fun but it would be nice to hear them complete their thoughts!

I’ve been a figure skating fan since as long as I can remember. This podcast is pure perfection. I love the fun banter even if you aren’t talking about skating. Just fun energy!
