NFL Week 1 Mega Preview: Picks, Fantasy & DFS with Andrae Thurman

NFL football is back. JD and Lady M kick off the 2026 NFL season with a special guest for the entire show: JD’s former co-host Andrae Thurman, a former Arizona Wildcat and Green Bay Packers wide receiver, two-time UFL champion and the original UFL’s all-time leading receiver. The crew goes game by game through the complete NFL Week 1 schedule, breaking down the biggest storylines, key matchups and questions surrounding all 16 games. Who starts the season 1-0? Which Week 1 favorite should be worried? Can the Patriots get revenge against Seattle after their Super Bowl loss? How will the 49ers-Rams matchup play out in Australia? Can Kyler Murray revive his career in Minnesota? What should Arizona expect from Jacoby Brissett, Jeremiah Love, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride against the Chargers? And will Patrick Mahomes be ready for Monday Night Football against Denver? Then it’s time for the first Pick-6 Locks of the Week, with JD, Lady M and Andrae putting their Week 1 predictions on the record. Fantasy football takes center stage with JD’s complete Week 1 Start ’Em/Sit ’Em at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end and DST. Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, De’Von Achane, Chris Olave and Brock Bowers are among the Week 1 starts, while Josh Allen, Jordan Love, James Cook, Christian Watson and Trey McBride headline some of the tougher lineup decisions. Finally, JD heads into the DFS War Room for the Patriots-Seahawks DraftKings Showdown, revealing his lineup build and examining the highest-scoring projections, projected ownership and best value plays for the NFL season opener. Plus, Andrae brings a former professional receiver’s perspective to the biggest Week 1 questions throughout the show. Every game. Pick-6. Fantasy Football. DFS. NFL Week 1 is here. Talking. Covering. D-Backs Wild Card Fight, ASU Week 1 & NASCAR's Chase Begins at Darlington

September is here, and the Sports Media X Podcast has plenty to talk about. JD and Lady M start at the Arizona Sports Desk after the Diamondbacks salvage their series against Philadelphia with a 1-0 victory. Arizona's bullpen delivered nine scoreless innings, but the offense managed just three runs during the entire three-game series. With the D-backs sitting directly in the NL Wild Card fight, we look ahead to a critical six-game road trip through Houston and Kansas City. We also check in on the Phoenix Mercury with only four games remaining and discuss what we're watching for as their 2026 season comes to an end. Then it's college football time. Arizona State opens its season Saturday night against Morgan State. We break down Cutter Boley's debut, Morgan State's biggest threats, five keys to an ASU victory, the Sun Devils who could have huge games and how dominant ASU may need to be to start generating Top 25 consideration. Finally, the NASCAR Chase begins at Darlington. We go deep on both Saturday's O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Fleetio 200 and Sunday's Cup Series Southern 500 with race predictions, championship storylines, Darlington specialists, sleepers, potential fades and our complete pre-qualifying DFS strategy. Then we finish the show with Pack Wars! Next Tuesday, NFL Week 1 takes over Sports Media X with the Cardinals, predictions for every Week 1 game, JD vs. Lady M with six Locks of the Week each, Fantasy Football Start 'Em/Sit 'Em and DFS builds for the defending champion Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots. NFL East Preview, Fantasy Draft Prep & NASCAR Daytona | Part II

We’re back for Part II of this week’s Sports Media X Podcast, finishing the major segments we couldn’t get to before Part I reached the 90-minute mark. First, our month-long NFL Division Preview series reaches the finish line with the AFC East and NFC East. JD and Lady M break down the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders and New York Giants, including their best players, biggest offseason changes, X-factors, newcomers and key questions entering the 2026 NFL season. We’re saving the actual predictions for next week’s NFL Tuesday, when JD and Lady M will put their projected records, division champions, playoff teams, conference champions, Super Bowl LXI picks and major NFL awards on the record. Then we move into Fantasy Football Draft Prep, focusing on the final lessons to remember before drafting: ADP as a price, not a commandment; why role matters more than preseason box scores; how injuries should change value; where to hunt for middle-round value; and why late-round upside matters. Finally, it’s time for NASCAR Daytona. We preview the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Wawa 250 and the NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400, both regular-season finales with Chase spots on the line. We break down the biggest Daytona storylines, the Chase bubble, favorites, sleepers, dark horses, race predictions and DraftKings DFS strategy. This episode also marks the start of Lady M’s NASCAR and DFS education, with simple explanations of drafting, place differential and the Chase bubble before she makes her own Daytona picks against JD. Beginning next week, Sports Media X moves to two shows per week: Tuesdays for NFL, Cardinals, Fantasy Football and NFL DFS, and Wednesdays for Arizona sports, NASCAR, college sports, major national stories and Pack Wars. D-Backs Shut Out Cubs + Arizona Sports Takes Center Stage | Part 1

The Sports Media X Podcast had so much to cover this week that we split it into two parts. In Part 1, JD and Lady M kick things off with Headlines & Horrible Dad Jokes, then dive into a loaded Arizona Sports Desk. The Arizona Diamondbacks shut out the Chicago Cubs 2-0 at Chase Field to take the series and improve to 71-63. Eduardo Rodríguez delivers seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, while Jordan Lawlar provides the big swing with a home run as Arizona continues its postseason push. We also break down the latest around the Arizona Cardinals as the preseason winds down and final roster decisions approach, including key injury updates and what still needs to be settled before Week 1. The Phoenix Mercury have officially been eliminated from postseason contention, and we discuss DeWanna Bonner’s departure and what Phoenix should be evaluating as the organization looks toward next season. Plus, we check in on Arizona State football and Kenny Dillingham’s quarterback competition as the Sun Devils get closer to opening day. And we finish the show with Pack Wars, as JD and Lady M blindly select 15 cards each from the 400-card 2025 Donruss Football set to see who gets the better pull. Coming in Part 2: AFC East and NFC East previews, final fantasy football draft strategy, and NASCAR Daytona with Chase scenarios, predictions and DFS strategy. Love Hurts! Cardinals Injuries, NFL South & NASCAR at The Magic Mile

Love hurts in Arizona—and unfortunately, Jeremiyah Love isn't the only Cardinals rookie dealing with an injury. On this week's Sports Media X Podcast, JD and Lady M break down Love's high-ankle sprain, the season-ending injury to Chase Bisontis and what the Cardinals need to accomplish in their final preseason preparations. Then it's time for the Arizona Sports Desk. We check in on the Diamondbacks after their road trip through Atlanta and Boston, the latest from the Phoenix Mercury and what we're watching as Arizona State football gets closer to kickoff. 🏈 NFL DIVISION PREVIEWS: We're heading South! JD and Lady M break down all eight teams in the AFC South and NFC South, including offseason moves, offensive and defensive rankings, players to watch, fantasy targets and our projected division finishes. 🏈 FANTASY FOOTBALL & NFL DFS: Don't draft last week's information! We explain how preseason injuries, changing depth charts and roster battles should affect your fantasy draft—and why preseason DFS is all about snaps, opportunity and information rather than star power. 🏁 NASCAR AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Craftsman Truck Series determines its Chase field at the Magic Mile, while the Cup Series has only two races remaining before The Chase. We break down the bubble, Christopher Bell's incredible New Hampshire history, Denny Hamlin's dominant season, Team Penske's surge, sleepers, early predictions and DFS strategy. 😂 Plus, Headlines & Horrible Dad Jokes, featuring NFL international expansion, the Buss family's Lakers ownership battle, the Big Ten vs. SEC debate and the continued growth of the WNBA. 🃏 And we finish the show with PACK WARS! JD and Lady M blindly select 15 cards each from the 2025 Donruss Football set. Who gets the better pulls and takes this week's victory? Sports Media X — Where Sports Fans Think Like Sports Media.
