Ep. 105 | The "Radical Belle" Speaks

"5 years ago, I publicly departed from the WWII museum as a member of the Victory Belles. If you knew me at the time- then you knew how much work I did to make sure the Black lives of New Orleans and the African American diaspora were acknowledged and protected. With that sparked a movement that gave other stakeholders a voice to address their many concerns with the state of the museum at the time- and the rest is history. Since then, I’ve made it my life’s work to put the same effort I was giving to that institution and, essentially, align myself with local institutions that DO acknowledge and defend black lives privately AND publicly in our absence. This is a touchy topic for me. So touchy that I still do not fully have the right words to describe how I'm processing that chapter 5 years later. I do my best to be eloquent, but there's some thoughts that I'm still finding the vocabulary for- so I ask you to do your best to receive the info in this reflection with love and empathy. She's doing her best. If you're looking for more insight into how I'm handling the current political climate in conjunction with the tools I've acquired from my experience at the museum, keep your eyes out for the Patreon-exclusive follow-up. xoxo J.Mix" Wanna give your thoughts about this episode? Ep. 98 | Enthusiastic Yes or Bust Ft. Pat Smith & Lefty Lucy

Sometimes, personal goals get lost because we say yes to other people's goals without assessing whether or not they align with ours. Though there is something valuable to take from every experience, we have to constantly evaluate whether or not what we are currently doing is nourishing us or depleting us. J.Mix is joined by her talented friends, Pat Smith & Lefty Lucy, to talk shop about how they are prioritizing gigs and artistic experiences that nourish their purpose and goals. They also acknowledge their shared clinical diagnosis and how they nurture it whilst pursuing their endeavors.  Lefty breaks down why she enthusiastically aligns her productions with historically marginalized communities at the forefront. Pat discusses the importance of finding creative spaces that allow artistic exploration and pursue the curiosities of life.  FOLLOW PAT & LEFTY! @PAT.SMITH85 on IG & TIKTOK @LEFTYLUCY on IG & @ILOVELEFTYLUCY on TIKTOK Wanna give your thoughts about this episode?
