The Shaft is a 5 part audio documentary from Bartender Atlas. Josh Lindley seeks out the story of The Shaft, hometown cocktail of Victoria and Calgary (both?). In it he follows the story of the drink as well as the attitudes of the bartenders and the cities that call the drink their own. Can a city really own a drink?

Josh hadn't heard of it either, until he and an old friend parked themselves at St. Frank's in Victoria in 2022. This episode will bring you up to speed on why Josh is doing this and you will get hear from the person that introduced Bartender Atlas to The Shaft. There is swearing and talk of over consumption in this episode. The guest is not a service industry professional and that's what we wanted. Real boots-on-the-ground life experience. Then Josh talks with Shawn Soole, author, podcast host and Victoria Cocktail Ambassador (not his words) about drinking culture in Victoria and about why The Shaft has taken the city's heart.
