The Silent Footprints | Stillbirth, Miscarriage, SIDS, Stigma, Baby Loss, Grief, SHINE for Autumn Act, Advocate, Legislation,

Lisa Rowell

Have you lost a baby to miscarriage, stillbirth, or SIDS? Do you feel like no one understands the depth of your grief? Maybe you’re angry, bitter, depressed—or drowning in a sea of emotions that feel impossible to name, let alone explain. Perhaps you’ve heard well-meaning but hurtful comments or received advice that made you feel even more isolated. You might be wondering, Where is God in all of this? Or why our country hasn’t done more to prevent stillbirths and support grieving families. You are not alone. And this podcast is for you. I’m Lisa Rowell. In 2013, I gave birth to my stillborn daughter, Julianna Grace. That moment shattered my world. I didn’t know how to survive the pain. I wrestled with God, with grief, with questions no one seemed to want to answer. Ten years ago, I found myself on the edge of despair, holding a bottle of liquor and a handful of pills, ready to give up—until God stepped in and changed everything. From the ashes of that heartbreak, a calling was born. Through The Silent Footprints, I invite you into a space that is real, raw, and unapologetically honest about infant loss. Here, we break the silence and stigma around miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, and early infant death. We talk about what it's like to grieve in a world that doesn’t know what to say—and how to heal when your heart feels shattered. My Christian faith has been the foundation of my journey, and it’s through God’s strength that I found purpose in my pain. I started the Julianna Grace Ministry by creating grieving baskets for parents like me. That effort grew into funding cuddle cots and caring cradles for local hospitals—tools that allow families precious time with their babies. Later, God opened the door for me to help pass legislation in Louisiana, offering tax credits to families of stillborn babies and giving dignity through certificates of miscarriage. This podcast isn’t just about healing—it's about action. I believe we can change the way our nation handles stillbirth and miscarriage. I believe grieving families deserve recognition, support, and resources. You’ll hear about efforts to pass laws across the country, tools like fetal monitoring apps, and ways you can advocate in your own state or even at the national level. Through heartfelt stories, faith-filled encouragement, and practical advocacy tips, The Silent Footprints empowers grieving parents to honor their babies and reclaim their voices. Whether you're freshly grieving or years down the road, this podcast will walk with you through the valleys and help you find purpose on the other side of pain. You may feel broken right now, but God is not finished with your story. You are not alone. Your baby’s life mattered. And your life still holds meaning. As Psalm 27:13 says, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” I never thought I’d feel joy again—but God made a way. Now I want to share that hope with you. So, if you're tired of suffering in silence, if you're ready to heal, speak out, and even create change—subscribe and join me. Let’s walk this road together, one step, one story, one prayer at a time. “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord.” – Psalm 27:14

92 | An Unconventional Prescription: Strength Training in a High-Risk Pregnancy with Isabelle Fisher

Send us Fan Mail Listen today as Isabelle Fisher shares how from the very beginning , complications threatened the stability of the pregnancy—starting with heavy bleeding in the first trimester and progressing to a diagnosis of IUGR(Intrauterine Growth Restriction) caused by a calcified placenta and poor umbilical blood flow. By 32 weeks, everything changed. Faced with strict bed rest, the loss of her normal routine, and the reality that her baby girl was measuring weeks behind, this mother entered a season filled with constant monitoring, uncertainty, and unwavering hope. What happens next is both surprising and inspiring. After weeks of little improvement, her doctor made an unconventional recommendation: to return to light strength training—specifically upper body movement—to reintroduce circulation and activity her body had been accustomed to. In the weeks that followed, subtle but significant changes began to occur. Blood flow improved, nutrients reached her baby more effectively, and remarkably, her daughter turned from breech to head down. Though the journey ultimately led to an emergency C-section at 36 weeks, her baby girl arrived stronger than expected—a testimony to resilience, faith, and the body’s incredible response. In this episode, we explore the emotional highs and lows of this journey and reflect on the moment her OB affirmed what she now believes: that movement may have played a key role in giving her daughter the strength she needed in those final weeks. 91 | Still Blooming: Creating Community After Loss with Neisa Murry

Send us Fan Mail Today I sit down with the heart behind Hearts & Halos: Infant and Pregnancy Loss Awareness to hear the story that changed everything. What began as unimaginable grief—five miscarriages and the loss of a stillborn baby—became the foundation for a mission rooted in compassion, connection, and healing. She shares her personal journey through loss, the questions no one prepares you for, and the quiet reality so many families face without support. Out of that pain came purpose: the creation of Hearts & Halos, a nonprofit dedicated to walking alongside families navigating infant and pregnancy loss. Since launching in March 2025, Hearts & Halos has become a source of hope and community. Through healing bags, creative outlets like painting workshops, remembrance events, and virtual support circles, they are creating safe spaces where grief is acknowledged and no one has to feel alone. They’ve also helped connect families to vital resources, including counseling and financial assistance for end-of-life services. This episode is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, something meaningful can grow. It’s about honoring the babies who are deeply loved, supporting the families who carry that love, and building a community where healing can begin—together. 90 | Dr Christopher Stroud | Breaking from the System: One OB-GYN’s Bold Stand Against the Norms

Send us Fan Mail In today’s episode, we’re diving into a conversation that challenges how we view miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant loss. I’ve always believed that every loss matters—and that these experiences can impact a woman and her family for a lifetime. What has always stayed with me, though, is how often society treats these losses as something to “move on” from or quietly forget. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Years ago, after sharing my testimony with a group of women, I had women in their 60s, 70s, and even late 80s come up to me and share their stories of loss—stories that felt as fresh and painful as if they had just happened. That’s why today’s conversation is so important. I’m joined by Dr. Christopher Stroud, an OB-GYN at the Fertility and Midwifery Care Center and the Holy Family Birth Center. His perspective on loss is both powerful and deeply compassionate. His passion for walking alongside women through grief is rooted in his understanding of when life begins. As he shares, “If you believe life begins when sperm and egg meet, then a positive pregnancy test means you are carrying a life—and when that pregnancy ends, you have lost a child.” Together, we explore the disconnect between what society often says about loss and what a grieving mother actually feels. Dr. Stroud speaks candidly about the ways physicians, healthcare providers, and culture can unintentionally dismiss grief—and why that needs to change. Because the truth is this: when a woman experiences loss, her heart knows exactly what happened. She isn’t overreacting. She isn’t holding on to something insignificant. She is grieving a child. If we expect women to simply “move on,” we have to ask ourselves—why does the pain run so deep? This episode is an invitation to rethink how we talk about loss, to approach grief with greater compassion, and to begin changing the language we use in both medicine and society. 89 Angel’s Law, Shine for Autumn, and Remembering the Victims of Shreveport Mass Shooting

Send us Fan Mail Today’s episode is a short but important conversation. It’s been a heavy week, and we’re taking time to talk about a few things that truly matter—both here in Louisiana and across the country. We’re highlighting the Shine for Autumn Act and why your voice is so important right now. This life-changing bill needs more co-sponsors, and even though many agree on its importance, action only happens when representatives hear directly from the people they serve. SHINE has made it incredibly simple to reach out—just a few clicks can make a real difference. We’re also discussing Louisiana Senate Bill 32, also known as Angel’s Law, which will be heard next week. Now is the time to show strong support. You can visit the Heidi St. James website to learn how to get involved, contact your legislators, and even show up in Baton Rouge if you’re able. Presence matters, and so does your voice. Lastly, we pause to honor and remember the lives lost in the recent mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana—so close to home and heavy on all of our hearts. Today, we remember these precious children: Jayla, 3  Shayla, 5  Kayla, 6  Layla, 7  Markaydon, 10  Sarahn, 11  Khedarrion, 6  Braylon, 5 LETS STAY CONNECTED: Link Tree Instagram Facebook Twitter Website Give if you feel led.
