    Chasing Purpose Not Money with Patrice Washington

    Would you turn down $15,000 for 4 minutes of work, if you didn’t believe in one part of what you were doing? My next guest did just that! In the last episode we talked about having Clarity of Purpose, I spoke about how without clarity we end up starting projects that don’t align with our goals and chase the shiny objects placed before us. Which was a perfect lead into my guest, and friend Patrice Washington! Patrice is a number one best-selling author, with 4 published books and a new one on the way! She’s a captivating speaker, known as America’s Money Maven and host of the Redefining Wealth Podcast. Patrice’s approach to financial education and overall strategy on wealth building focuses on chasing purpose, not money. Patrice's Guiding Principle:  Proverbs 17:16  - What good is money in the hands of a fool if they have no desire to seek wisdom. Takeaway's from this Episode: It's okay to give yourself permission to change the story you’ve been telling yourself. We often get stuck in the excuses and narrative that we often didn't have a hand at writing about who we are, and whom we can become.  You have permission to change that story. Anytime you feel self-sabotage creeping in, be intentional about being still. Get self-reflective and walk into the things you're attempting to walk away from.     Clarity of Purpose

    Clarity of purpose, what does that mean when you hear it or read it and more importantly how do you achieve it?  That's the question we address in this reflection.  One of the things that can present a challenge with finding your clarity of purpose. If you're not satisfied with yourself, or if you're not clear on who you are, it's difficult to find a purpose that's actually worth caring about.     Master Your Mindset

    Your Mindset can determine everything. Self-talk and your inner voice can either support you, making you feel good and healthy, or it can hurt you – damaging your self-esteem, shaking your confidence and making you feel less worthy than you really are. So something to really consider is the quote that says "A Man is what he thinks about all day". So what are you thinking about all day?  Is it the next step in your path to greatness or are you thinking about what you have been told you can't do? We're often limited by others beliefs that somehow get adopted by us and cared for like they're dear to us.  Taking in the negative thoughts and repeating them until we actually believe what we've been told.     This Or That - Decision Points

    How do you make a good decision? What would you do in the situation where you've taken a journey down a road that's delivered you to your goal only to realize that at what you thought would be a new beginning, you come to a crossroad. Down one path is security and safety that many have taken before, and everyone around you understands and can support your choice. However, down the other path is what you feel is your calling, the thing you've always wanted to do or discovered along the way that excites you! This thing wakes you up in the morning and keeps you from going to bed at night.  You can feel it as it pulls at you constantly to give it the attention you know it needs to grow, but you hesitate.
