Breaking news: Donald Trump has pulled out of the debate! This September, a presidential debate was scheduled, but Trump has elected not to participate. We bring Pete Buttigieg’s remarks from MSNBC on this decision. We believe that Buttigieg nailed it on the head. Trump is afraid to face an experienced prosecutor like Kamala Harris. Additionally, the Harris campaign operates on a completely different axis than Trump’s. Her efforts are message-oriented rather than personality-oriented. According to Secretary Buttigieg, Trump is only capable of focusing on himself, while Vice President Harris seeks to benefit everyday Americans. 



Despite a full table of budget and policy proposals to negotiate, the House of Representatives is taking a recess. Leah Vredenbregt of Gray Television in Washington DC interviewed several representatives on both sides of the aisle about how this recess may impact the continued functioning of our government. Wisconsin Republican Derrick Van Orden’s response has done nothing to reduce his reputation as a misogynistic bully. In a condescending tone, he said that he was fine with taking a recess, claiming erroneously that it would not impact proceedings. We play his response, comparing it with those of Tim Burchett, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Steven Horsford. We can clearly see that Van Orden is even less reasonable than Marjorie Taylor Greene. DVO has got to go.

To kick off our second hour, we share a recent speech from J.D. Vance. Years ago, he had suggested that parents of biological children receive more voting power because they “have more stake” in our country’s future. In the last few days, he has doubled down on this stance, which echoes past policies like the three-fifths compromise. This discriminatory practice would imply that people with biological children are more important, with no regard for adoption, fertility struggles, stepchildren, people waiting to have kids, or simply those who don’t want to raise children. We take your calls on this ridiculous idea. 



Lately, we’ve been seeing an influx of memes about Kamala Harris. What exactly is “brat,” and what does it have to do with coconut trees? As our resident Gen Z representative, Aaron explains where this support for Kamala has come from and what it means. Our friend Jane Matenaer of Matenaer On Air also calls in to talk about memes!

To begin today’s show, we recap President Biden’s Oval Office address from last night. It was essentially his formal withdrawal from the race. He also expressed gratitude for the support he has received over his political career, calling Americans to action to continually support democracy. 



Todd reviews Joe Biden’s political legacy, highlighting a moment from 2012 when the then-Vice President broke from Obama’s position to support marriage equality. This clip is a perfect example of Joe Biden’s willingness to own up to mistakes and grow as a human being. In part, we have Biden to thank for the marriage equality rights we enjoy today. We take some emotional calls on the topic. Our very own Chad Holmes, host of The Chad Holmes Show on WXCO Bull Falls Radio in Wausau, calls in to share his thoughts.
