You Don’t Have To Do It Alone – Part 1 with Jennifer T. Donner | Ep. 54

On this week’s episode of The True North Show I am joined by Jennifer T. Donner, a woman who I’ve only met recently but someone I connected with in the first few minutes of chatting.  Jenn shares her journey over the last couple of decades and how particular moments in her life really challenged her and gave her the opportunity to look at things with a different perspective, to do the inner work and to grow on a personal and professional level.  Those moments have led her to be in true alignment, to be working in a more purposeful way and to be living her True North.  This is the first part of Jenn’s journey and she will be sharing more in another episode later in the season.   Bio: Jennifer T. Donner is a mindset and empowerment coach for women who’ve hit that “enough is enough” moment – tired of feeling stuck, behind, or secretly like they’re failing at adulting, even when life looks pretty okay from the outside. Jennifer T. Donner, a mindset and empowerment coach for women who have hit that 'enough is enough' moment, the women who are tired of feeling stuck, behind or secretly feel like they are failing at adulting, even when life looks pretty okay from the outside. She doesn't just understand that feeling she lived it in her twenties.  Jenn had the steady job, the long-term relationship, and the support system, all the things that were supposed to add up to a good life.  But beneath the surface, she felt anxious, stressed, and quietly depressed, constantly wondering 'is this really it?' A pivotal wake-up call became the beginning of a very different path.  For the first time, Jenn stopped trying to figure everything out alone and opened herself to therapy, coaching, and deep inner work.  What followed was a gradual and powerful return to herself built on honesty, self-compassion, and a willingness to question the stories that had been running her life. That journey led Jenn to her true north helping other women find their way back to themselves.  She works with women who are done suffering and ready to trust themselves, reconnect with who they are, and feel genuinely excited about what is next. Her work is rooted in the belief that nobody teaches us how to navigate the mixed bag of emotions that comes with the ups and downs of life – and no one should have to figure it out alone.  Her style is warm, playful, and disarmingly honest, she normalises the hard stuff and creates space for women to feel less alone. When she’s not coaching, you’ll find Jennifer puzzling, rock climbing, kayaking or exploring new creative adventures with her photographer and filmmaker husband, Miguel, while co-parenting their very opinionated cat, Sami. Peeling The Artichoke To Reveal The Heart with Tiffany Cano | Ep. 53

On this week’s episode of The True North Show, I am joined by Tiffany Cano, an incredible and wonderful woman who, and the heart of everything, is here to serve.  Her story is filled with so many moments of insight, nudges and advice from her parents that it seems she has had no other choice but to do what she does – and she loves that.  Tiffany and I have quite a few laughs along the way and she shares so much wisdom, particularly the grounding technique that she does, you will not want to miss that! Bio: Tiffany Cano is the CEO of Highly Perceptive People Academy. She has been getting paid for healing since she was 8 years old. Many empaths, intuitives, transformational workshop leaders and coaches hire her to help them see and heal their blinds pots, be better at holding space and with their boundaries because most are overwhelmed, subconsciously guarded, take things personally and contract when feeling fear and negativity.  So she helps them be more clear and trust their intuition, feel safe to take confident and empowered action and own your sense of Self. In essence, Tiffany gets you even more aligned and congruent so that you can be even better at receiving more money, love and joy! She is the author of Sacred Body, Sacred Soul, Loved Seen Heard (coming out soon), co-author of Women of Wisdom, and the Art of Connection. It’s An Inside Job with Yvette Timmins | Ep. 52

On this week’s episode of The True North Show, I am joined by a wonderful returning guest, Yvette Timmins.  Yvette and I were recently chatting about her honeymoon in Japan and she shared with me a conversation she had that stopped her in her tracks and I knew immediately we had to bring it to the show.   Bio: For Yvette Timmins, flowers are more than just a profession they are a family legacy.   With a Grandmother, Great Aunt, and Great Grandmother who were all florists, it would be easy to say that creativity is in her blood.  However, Yvette believes that the art of floristry isn’t a special skill reserved for the chosen few; it is an innate ability available to anyone willing to silence their inner critic and connect with nature.   With over 30 years in the industry, Yvette has truly "done it all”.  She has climbed every rung of the ladder, moving from a Casual Assistant to Senior Florist, Shop Manager, and Shop Owner, eventually becoming a Floristry Teacher and the Principal of Bloom College, which she founded in 2013.  Her leadership extends to the national stage, where she served as a founding director and board member of Flower Industry Australia.   Beyond the business of blooms, Yvette is a champion for the mental health benefits of creativity, she has witnessed firsthand how working with nature decreases anxiety and nurtures the soul.  This passion led her to co-found the charity Floral Acts of Kindness and to write her recently published book, Feed Your Soul with Flowers.   Today, through her online membership and app, Yvette is dedicated to ensuring that geography and physical ability are no longer barriers to learning.  She is here to help you grow your business and feed your soul, one stem at a time.   Use this link to purchase the book – Feed Your Soul With Flowers https://study.bloomcollege.com.au/Feed-Your-Soul-Flowers-Book   Social Media: Website:         https://bloomcollege.com.au/ Facebook:       https://www.facebook.com/bloomcollege Instagram:      https://www.instagram.com/bloomcollege

From Scrubs to Medical Thriller with Jenny White | Ep. 51

On this week’s episode of The True North Show I am joined by Jenny White, an inspiring woman who has had an incredible journey over the last few years.  Through this journey she has had no choice but to reinvent herself and this new version is inspiring, creative and someone she never thought she would be.  Jenny and I dive deeply into the circumstances that changed her life forever after her retirement from a 30 year career as a Registered Nurse.  Our conversation is wonderful, funny at times and truly remarkable, it is a conversation that will give you a very different perspective on life.   Bio: Jenny White is a retired Registered Nurse living in Southwestern Ontario.  She spent over 30 years working in various settings including hospitals: ICU’s, trauma units, surgical floors, as well as Public Health and Long-Term Care homes (nursing homes). She has vast experience in these settings working as staff, and finishing her career as a Director of Care, managing large nursing departments as well as a Director of Nursing services for a for profit organization overseeing 7 of their long-term care homes.  Having retired, she discovered that she had a brain tumor wrapped around her carotid artery in her brain, that was life threatening and required specialized surgery.  After her extensive surgery, she was comatose for days, and when she awoke, she found herself tied to the bed as she had become a disoriented patient, attempting to remove all of the medical tools keeping her alive. Her memories were gone, she did not recognize her husband at the bedside, and she had to relearn how to walk and talk. Over the next year, Jenny had to reinvent herself.  Her old hobbies and interests were gone, and she felt vulnerable and lost.  That was the turning point.  She decided she was interested in writing her story.  As she learned the craft of writing by taking online courses during her rehabilitation, a spark was ignited and she began to write.  Her returning memories are slow, but are impacted by writing, slowly remerging from the past. Her experience is vast and she has many stories to tell.  She now writes Medical Thrillers.  Her debut novel, “The Triggering Scent” (book 1 of a series), Jenny took her experience, and returning memories and created a character of a nurse, working in an ICU. The Triggering Scent is now published and available on over 40 platforms, purchase your copy using the link below:  https://www.jennywhite.ca/the-triggering-scent Social Media: Website:         www.jennywhite.ca Facebook:       https://facebook.com/authorjennywhite Instagram:       https://instagram.com/author.jennywhite LinkedIn:         https://www.linkedin.com/in/jennifer-white-259b36360/

The Hummingbird Effect with Courtney McCloud | Ep. 50

On this week’s episode of Season 5 of The True North Show I am joined by Courtney McCloud, an incredible and wonderful woman who I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and being friends with for quite a few years.  Courtney shares with us where her journey began and how it has come full circle to where she originally wanted to start.  Her view on the importance of good communication is so deep and is weaved into everything she does, in particular the work she does within organisations.  Courtney’s own communication style is light yet focused and precise with a little bit of fun as well.  I loved our conversation and I am sure you will too.   Bio: Courtney McCloud has built a career that doesn't fit neatly into a single box, and that’s part of what makes her story worth telling. After starting her career as a high school English teacher, she now has over a decade of experience in communications and engagement.  Courtney has worked across some of Australia's most recognisable organisations, from secondary and tertiary education institutions to a national construction company.  Add to that her time as a teacher, advocacy for young people, international development, and the not-for-profit sector, and it’s clear her career has not been shaped by the status quo, but by a genuine curiosity about people and what moves them.  At the heart of Courtney’s current work is a simple but powerful belief: that communications is transformative.  Whether that's supporting business leaders through a period of difficult change, creating community in workplaces through campaigns such as International Women’s Day, developing breakthrough campaigns to support advocacy efforts, or producing a magazine that makes frontline workers feel seen, Courtney has spent her career turning this belief into measurable outcomes.  But the journey hasn't been straightforward.  Courtney has navigated the tension that many professionals quietly face: building a strong career on paper while wondering if the work truly reflects who she is and what she cares about.  That question eventually led her to build an independent consulting practice, which has been a period of professional reinvention that proved to be one of the most clarifying decisions of her life.  Courtney holds a Master of Arts in Communication Management from the University of Technology Sydney, and a Bachelor of Arts with a Diploma of Education from Macquarie University; a combination that tells you something about how she thinks: rigorously, and always with people at the centre.  These days, Courtney is focused on maximising the power of communications strategy for organisations making a tangible impact. She’s also developing a vision for mentoring young people and young professionals and continuing her board training.  Warm, direct, and refreshingly honest about the messy reality of building a meaningful career, Courtney brings both hard-won expertise and genuine heart to this conversation.  Social Media: Website:         www.thehummingbirdeffect.com.au LinkedIn:         https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-hummingbird-effect/

Science, Soul and Strategy with Nikhil Rughani | Ep. 49

On this week’s episode of The True North Show, I am joined by Nikhil Rughani, a returning guest, a friend and someone who I am very grateful for.  Nikhil shares with me why he has pivoted from Peaceful Peak Performance to Playful Peak Performance and also what happens to him when his intuition kicks in and he is guided to make changes with the work he is doing or the path he is going down.  Nikhil also explains an incredible Ayurvedic technique that he uses to help him get clear on a new idea or direction – you will not want to miss that!   Bio: Nikhil Rughani is an Australian executive coach, trainer, and founder of Steel Lotus, where he helps leaders and teams achieve Playful Peak Performance and Executive Intuition™ through the integration of science, soul, and strategy. With a background spanning copywriting, marketing, coaching, and teaching, Nikhil brings two decades of real-world experience to his work.  He has supported CEOs, government leaders, and ambitious professionals, and currently teaches Masters-level students at the University of New South Wales in advertising, marketing, and branding.  He is also studying neuroscience at the University of New England, adding academic depth to a practice already grounded in both performance and human behaviour. Nikhil’s method is built on holding opposites in tension, including play and precision, structure and flow, science and spirituality.  That philosophy shapes his coaching, his training programs, and his belief that high performance should feel more coherent, not more complicated. He is currently focused on building a scalable ecosystem of executive trainings and certification pathways, including NLP, hypnosis, and Time Line Therapy®, with a growing emphasis on corporate and team development.  His goal is to help people create meaningful results without burnout, while building capability that lasts. Nikhil also teaches taekwondo, bringing discipline, presence, and embodiment into everything he does. His broader philosophy is simple: real success comes from aligning who you are with how you work. The Journey Back To Your True Nature with Alicia Lansdown | Ep. 48

On this week’s episode of The True North Show I am joined by a beautiful friend of mine, Alicia Lansdown.  Alicia shares many stories of how her passion and purpose has guided her throughout her life, how the loss of her father when she was 30 had a major impact and turning point on and in her life and how she is now working with women to guide them on their health journey.  Alicia talks about the value of being in tune with yourself and most importantly the insights and guidance our bodies give us when we are able to listen and feel the messages and wisdom.   Bio: Alicia spent most of her twenties completely unbothered by health while her dad, a bodybuilder, quietly nudged her toward it.  She wasn't interested. But with him in her corner, she felt unstoppable.   Then he died suddenly when she was 30, and everything fell apart, not just her health, but her sense of who she was.   What followed were years of trying to put herself back together.  Chronic inflammation, mystery health issues, and 10 kilos she couldn't shift no matter what she tried.  She travelled to Costa Rica to study raw food nutrition, still her body held on. Doing everything "right" and getting nowhere.   Until something shifted.   She began training for a bodybuilding competition, she got lean, strong, and for a moment felt like she'd finally cracked it.  But pushing that hard came at a cost she hadn't anticipated, her mood darkened, the person chasing that stage was someone she didn't recognise.   She never stepped on that stage.  So she stopped, stepped back, and started again.  This time without the extremes.   The confidence she'd lost when her dad died began to resurface, not by pushing harder, but through finally understanding her own body, she was strong, lean, and clear on who she was again. That version of herself launched her first business.  That experience, backed by formal study in health science, became the foundation for True Nature Nutrition – because true nature isn't a programme or a meal plan. It's the version of you that's strong, confident, and completely at home in your own skin.
