Episode 86: Jerry Seinfeld, the NBA, Boomer, and The Sting

Episode 86: Jerry Seinfeld, the NBA, Boomer, and The Sting

Angelo, Jay, and Rhea are back to discuss Jerry Seinfeld's comments about comedy getting too politically correct -- is the left making it more difficult to be funny?

Then, they discuss the NBA's insane decision to schedule Thursday's game between the Sixers and the Knicks at 9 PM.  These are two east coast teams, so why would the powers that be have them finish play at midnight?!

Plus, Boomer and Phil Simms are out at CBS, does this signal a shift towards a younger demographic for NFL pregame shows (whose commentators have an average age of approximately 211 years old)?

The gang also discuss the 50th anniversary of The Sting, discusses Netflix's Boiling Point, The Boys on Amazon Prime, Elsbeth on CBS, The Sympathizer on Max, and MORE!

Seriously, you're not going to find more TV packed into a half hour than this show!  You've got to start listening RIGHT NOW!

Episode 85: Taylor Swift and The Trump Trial

Episode 85: Taylor Swift and The Trump Trial

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay have a discussion about why the Trump Trial isn't being televised -- regardless of your politics, it's a spectacle that the country has a right to watch in all its lurid glory!

Also, the gang discusses the new Taylor Swift album, the ratings for the Billy Joel concert, the new Netflix series, A Man in Full, and the ethics of AI in documentaries.

PLUS: British and Teen Corner, Sugar, and EVEN MORE -- there isn't a podcast on the planet the packs in as much conversation as we do!  You don't want to miss it!

Episode 84: Scoop, OJ, Billy Joel, and Fallout

Episode 84: Scoop, OJ, Billy Joel, and Fallout

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay start the show with a discussion of Scoop, the new Netflix movie about the incredible interview that BBC's NewsNight had with Prince Andrew, which leads into some talk about the greatest TV interviews of all time.

From there, the gang discusses OJ's death and the impact that his trial had on TV back in the 1990s.

Then, it's Jay's favorite topic: Billy Joel and CBS's boneheaded decision to cut his concert short -- DURING PIANO MAN -- to air the local news!

All that, plus British Corner, Teen Corner, a review of the 1988 Danish film, Spoorloos (no, really), and a review of the new Fallout series from Amazon Prime.

    It's another ACTION PACKED SHOW!

Episode 83: Curb Your Enthusiasm, the NCAA Finals, and Monkey Man

Episode 83: Curb Your Enthusiasm, the NCAA Finals, and Monkey Man

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay do a deep dive on everything involving the series finale of Curb -- was it so good that it retroactively made the much-maligned Seinfeld finale better?! Should Larry David be put in the pantheon of great TV creators?  And, where does Curb rank on Angelo's all-time list of great TV sitcoms?

Then, the gang discusses the walloping that the women's NCAA finale gave the men's final in the ratings.  Was this a one-time thing or is there something deeper at work with how the networks schedule these events?

All that, plus British Corner, Teen Corner, reviews of The Girls on the Bus and Ripley by Angelo and a review of Monkey Man by Jay!

Tv show works

Hearing Angelo talking about anything but sports is new and different. Jay Black is funny and Rhea doing a lot of English show is great. Rhea is like everyone’s favorite sister . True Philly girl . Have always loved her. This show is fun and has given me more then just a few things to check out. They’re usually right on with their descriptions and recommendations. I do think they owe Glenn MacNow a nod. This show is exactly like glen’s “what are we watching” segment every Saturday. It’s just way more detailed . Give it a listen it’s light, easy and lots of fun to listen to.
