The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 183: "More Than A Game! "

The World Cup is supposed to unite the world through sport. Instead, the Iranian national soccer team has found itself caught in the middle of one of the biggest geopolitical conflicts of our time. From visa restrictions and security concerns to protests inside stadiums and political demonstrations outside them, every match has become about far more than soccer. Even travel arrangements have become international news as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to spill onto the world's biggest sporting stage. Tonight, we examine how sports have become another arena for global politics, why ordinary athletes often pay the price for decisions made by governments, and what it says about a world where even a World Cup match can't escape international conflict. Real Talk. No Filters. Common Sense.   Show Notes https://www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/iran-says-us-airport-delay-holds-up-world-cup-delegation-2026-06-24/?utm_source=chatgpt.com https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/us-eases-restrictions-irans-world-cup-team-allowing-then-day-earlier-2026-06-23/?utm_source=chatgpt.com https://www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/iran-lodge-fifa-complaint-over-world-cup-travel-restrictions-2026-06-19/?utm_source=chatgpt.com   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 182: "When America Looks Away!"

Tonight, I want to ask you a question that has nothing to do with political parties. It's about consistency. Over the past week, a video spread across social media showing a white woman being chased and assaulted by a mob. According to reports, some of the people involved referenced Karmelo Anthony's name during the confrontation, turning an already disturbing incident into another flashpoint in an already divided country. At nearly the same time, 27-year-old Tonea Nichole Miller was found dead in Miami after traveling to Florida for Juneteenth weekend. Her death has generated significant discussion online, with many people questioning why it has received relatively little national media attention. As of today, authorities have not publicly concluded that her death was the result of a homicide or a hate crime. These are very different stories. But they raise the same question. Why do some stories become national obsessions while others struggle to break through? When violence happens, does our outrage depend on who the victim is? Does media coverage depend on which narrative fits the moment? Tonight isn't about jumping to conclusions. It's about asking whether we're applying the same standards to every victim, every case, and every act of violence. Because if justice is supposed to be blind, our compassion should be too.   Show Notes https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/free-karmelo-mob-hunted-woman-203552050.html https://redstatenation.com/longview-texas-karmelo-anthony-supporters-assault-sammie-lee/ https://substack.com/@sugarrhi/note/c-281128207   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 181: "The Verdict They Refuse to Accept"

Justice was supposed to bring closure. Instead, it ignited another political firestorm. After Karmelo Anthony was found guilty in the death of Austin Metcalf, the courtroom may have reached a verdict, but the public debate is just getting started. With the defense pursuing an appeal and critics questioning everything from the jury's makeup to the role race played in the trial, many are asking whether Americans still trust the justice system... or only when it delivers the outcome they want. In this episode of The UnWoke Show, Tim and Rich examine the case, the legal arguments behind the appeal, the reaction across social media, and the growing tendency to filter every high-profile verdict through politics and identity. Has the pursuit of justice been replaced by the pursuit of narratives? Join us as we separate facts from emotion and explore what this case says about accountability, public trust, and a country increasingly divided over the meaning of justice.   Show Notes https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/frisco-murder-trial/one-day-after-conviction-karmelo-anthony-files-notice-of-appeal-and-says-he-cant-afford-a-lawyer/287-6c56a100-fea6-4d7e-87b6-b95370305c3f https://nypost.com/2026/06/11/us-news/karmelo-anthony-claims-hes-penniless-cant-afford-lawyer-for-appeal-despite-pocketing-625000-after-murder-conviction/ https://www.newsnationnow.com/crime/karmelo-anthony-parents-trial/   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 180: "The Protest Industry "

A protest used to be simple. People showed up. They carried signs. They made their voices heard. Today, protests increasingly look like coordinated operations complete with encrypted communications, fundraising networks, logistics teams, media strategies, legal support, and supply chains. Recent reports surrounding anti-ICE demonstrations in Newark have revealed the use of Signal chats, organized communications, and coordinated planning efforts that raise an uncomfortable question: When does activism become an industry? In this episode, Tim and Rich explore how modern political movements have evolved, why technology has transformed protest organizing, and whether today's demonstrations are truly spontaneous or carefully orchestrated campaigns. This isn't just about Newark. It's about the future of activism in America.   Show Notes https://www.foxnews.com/politics/secret-signal-chats-reveal-how-anti-ice-agitators-coordinated-newark-riots https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/secret-signal-chats-reveal-anti-113408556.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAIOW8Btai_0fTgxeHQ741ZcqBIEpWgVGrwzLO9kqHi02svks9TC8lGNuUUiiDSGV0eEo2zXT5LKfAlPmLNqd3AXchH3fu0py0uaaZInmwl-oBvW34CSVJsqRCfxhZ3oMf5W94DnkR_EtcfD2KD7UOwuRO3-CrJMXKcnwaXwotDD1 https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2026/06/04/to-no-ones-surprise-newark-anti-ice-rioters-coordinate-over-signal-chats-n2203031   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 179: "The Cost of Silence! "

The San Jose State University volleyball controversy is no longer just about sports. It's become a national flashpoint over fairness, transparency, Title IX, and whether institutions are willing to acknowledge uncomfortable realities. In this episode, Tim and Rich dive into the fallout from the SJSU volleyball scandal involving transgender athlete Blaire Fleming and former teammate Brooke Slusser. Federal investigators recently concluded that SJSU violated Title IX in its handling of the situation, finding that female athletes were not adequately protected under federal law according to the Department of Education's findings. The controversy sparked lawsuits, team divisions, player protests, match forfeitures, accusations of institutional misconduct, and a national debate over the future of women's sports. Several Mountain West schools forfeited matches against SJSU during the 2024 season, turning what began as a campus issue into a nationwide political and cultural battle. But beyond the headlines lies a larger question: What happens when institutions ask people to remain silent about concerns they genuinely believe affect fairness, safety, and equal opportunity? This episode examines the collision between competing rights, the role of Title IX, the growing political divide over transgender participation in women's athletics, and why trust in universities, governing bodies, and public institutions continues to erode. Whether you view this as a civil rights issue, a women's sports issue, or a failure of leadership, one thing is clear: the fallout from San Jose State is far from over. The UnWoke Show asks the question many institutions seem unwilling to answer: When reality collides with ideology, who pays the price?   Show Notes https://www.foxnews.com/outkick-sports/inside-fallout-sjsu-volleyball-scandal-obvious-problem https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/30/us/san-jose-state-volleyball-transgender-player-what-we-know https://sports.yahoo.com/san-jose-state-transgender-controversy-boise-state-withdraws-from-mountain-west-volleyball-tourney-rather-than-play-spartans-025516570.html   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 178: "Not Guilty... But Not Over"

A jury has spoken, but the story is far from finished. In this episode of The UnWoke Show, Tim and Rich break down the controversial acquittal of Rick Chow in the shooting death of 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton. The case sparked national attention, fierce debate, and now a looming civil lawsuit that could reopen many of the same questions. Was this a lawful act of self-defense? Did a store owner protect his family from an armed threat? Or did a pursuit over a suspected theft cross the line into something else entirely? The criminal jury found Rick Chow not guilty of murder. But the Carmack-Belton family says justice has not been served and plans to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. Tonight, we examine the facts, the legal standards, the burden of proof, and the larger question that sits at the center of this case: When does self-defense end and vigilantism begin? This isn't just a story about one shooting in South Carolina. It's a conversation about fear, responsibility, justice, and the growing divide between what is legal and what people believe is right.   Show Notes https://apnews.com/article/store-owner-shooting-black-teen-south-carolina-d1d6534afe8cb98a5e4fc153290d480b https://www.foxnews.com/us/store-owner-held-without-bond-3-years-acquitted-murder-teens-shooting-death https://www.wistv.com/2026/06/02/rick-chow-found-not-guilty-murder-death-cyrus-carmack-belton/?utm_source=chatgpt.com   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 177: "The strait of everything: How a 21 mile waterway is holding the world hostage"

The world economy is balanced on a 21-mile-wide pressure point... and most people have no idea how fragile it really is. In this episode of The UnWoke Show, Tim and Rich break down the Strait of Hormuz, the tiny stretch of water that controls nearly a fifth of the world’s oil supply and why every geopolitical fight in the Middle East somehow leads back to it. One blocked shipping lane, one military escalation, one bad decision, and suddenly gas prices spike, supply chains freeze, markets panic, and governments start sweating on live television pretending they “have the situation under control.” Humanity built a global economy on just-in-time delivery and then routed the lifeblood of it through a maritime choke point barely wider than a suburban commute. Brilliant system. No notes. The conversation dives into how Iran uses the strait as leverage, why the U.S. Navy patrols the region like the world’s most expensive security guard, and how China, Europe, and America are all tied to the same vulnerable artery whether they admit it or not. The guys also explore how modern conflicts are no longer just fought with bombs and bullets, but with shipping lanes, semiconductors, rare earth minerals, energy pipelines, and economic pressure points designed to squeeze entire populations without firing a shot. This episode isn’t just about oil. It’s about dependence. About what happens when globalization creates systems so interconnected that a single disruption can ripple across the planet in days. The Strait of Hormuz may be only 21 miles wide, but the consequences of instability there reach every gas pump, grocery store, and household budget in America. Because in 2026, wars don’t just happen on battlefields anymore. They happen in bottlenecks.   Show Notes https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-12.0/centery:25.0/zoom:4 https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/?utm_source=chatgpt.com https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-05-26/two-more-oil-supertankers-exit-hormuz-to-help-push-flows-higher   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com

The UnWoke Show Season 4, Episode 176: "Everything Feels Off… And People Know It"

Something in America feels different… and people are starting to notice. In this episode of The UnWoke Show, Tim and Rich revisit a conversation that may have been ahead of its time. From struggling downtowns and rising homelessness to economic anxiety, public distrust, and the strange feeling that systems no longer work the way they used to, this episode explores the growing disconnect between official narratives and everyday reality. Why do major cities feel unstable? Why does everything seem more expensive, more tense, and less trustworthy? And why are so many people quietly feeling like the country is drifting in a direction nobody fully understands? This isn’t just about politics. It’s about the slow cultural, economic, and institutional fracture happening beneath the surface of daily life. Because sometimes the biggest story isn’t what people are being told. It’s what people are starting to feel for themselves.   Show Notes https://www.reddit.com/r/charts/comments/1p8mhmq/us_office_vacancy_rates_20192025/ https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/04/15/multiple-indicators-show-a-decline-in-the-health-of-americas-democracy-in-2025/ https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/3-shot-teen-gathering-hyde-park-memorial-day-weekend/   Social Media https://x.com/UnWokeTheShow https://bsky.app/profile/theunwokeshow.bsky.social   Podcast links https://theunwokeshow.podbean.com/ https://open.spotify.com/show/27rkGZYhccSF8stUzzGxaI https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-unwoke-show/id1686015698\ https://goodpods.com/podcasts/the-unwoke-show-309196 https://www.youtube.com/@TheUnWokeShow/videos?app=desktop   Feedback feedback@unwoketheshow.com
