401: Walking Dead Trailers + Upcoming TV & Movies

I’m joined by Rima and Pake for our annual Comic-Con special, where we review the Walking Dead trailers that came out of Comic-Con (three of ‘em this time), go over upcoming movies and shows we’re looking forward to, and look back at how well our picks from last year turned out (usually, not very!). See if your favorites get talked about, and maybe learn about a few new things you might like.

    400: Angela Kang + 10th Anniversary Special

    400: Angela Kang + 10th Anniversary Special

It’s our 10th anniversary special, and we’re celebrating in style! First it’s a fun and in-depth interview with TWD showrunner Angela Kang, who has brilliantly reinvigorated the show over the last couple seasons. Then Karen, Lucy, and I go over some of our favorite memories and highlights of doing the podcast over the years. And finally, some sweet and heartfelt messages from a bunch of you.

Putting this episode together reminded me what an incredible experience it’s been doing this podcast over the years, and most of that is because of the people who have been involved with it. So thanks for listening and for being a part of this everybody. Seriously, it’s been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever been a part of, and you guys have a lot to do with that.

If you enjoy these podcasts and you'd like to throw in some support (and you're interested in hearing me and Karen on a regular basis, via The Jason & Karen Show), you can pledge at patreon.com/jasonandkaren. Or if you just want to make a one-time donation, you can do that at buymeacoffee.com/cabassi.

Lastly, I’d love it if every one of you guys reading this would make sure to vote this year! You’ve heard it said a lot I’m sure, but this is the most important election I personally have ever known. You can find out if you’re registered, register if you’re not, and apply to vote by mail at vote.org. Thanks guys 3

    399: Dan Fogler (Luke)

    399: Dan Fogler (Luke)

Such a pleasure to talk with Dan Fogler, a.k.a. Luke of The Walking Dead, an engaging guest and a man of many talents. Listen in to hear Dan talk about:
Whether he agrees with Luke about the importance of art to the development of human civilization.
How he ended up on The Walking Dead.
How he feels about Luke’s signature blazer.
Whether he’s aware that it seems like the show keeps making us think Luke is about to die.
What he thought about the end of The Walking Dead comic series.
The upcoming Heavy-Metal-inspired comics that Dan has written, Brooklyn Gladiator (with Simon Bisley of Lobo fame!), Fishkill (with Ben Templesmith of 30 Days of Night!), and Moon Lake.
His awesome podcast: DAN FOGLER'S 4d Xperience!
Whether Dan considers himself a nerd.
The name he chose for Luke’s weapon.

You can pre-order Dan’s comics and find out what else he’s up to at foglersfiction.com.

397: The Last of Us Part II

397: The Last of Us Part II

The original game The Last of Us was an incredible experience: thrilling, beautiful, moving, violent, engaging, and memorable, enough so that it’s not only one of my very favorite games, but also one of my all-time favorite stories, of any kind. Now, almost exactly seven years later, I’m joined again by Erik (aka Mr. Blahg) to talk through the newly released and long-awaited sequel, The Last of Us Part II. How do we think it compares? You’ll have to listen to find out :)

By the way, we have a like 30-minute non-spoilery segment, and like a 45-minute super-spoilery-AF segment, in case you haven't finished yet and don't want to know what happens.

    396: The Babadook

    396: The Babadook

Ever since the Australian psychological horror The Babadook came out in 2014, it’s been mentioned as being one of the standout modern horror movies, and we figured it’s about time we watched it. And we’re glad we did. We thought it was a great movie on many levels and we had a great time talking about it. Hope you enjoy!

The short film Monster, director Jennifer Kent’s precursor to The Babadook, is at https://vimeo.com/39042148.
