The Warrior Medic

He Never Told Anyone. Not Once. Not Ever. | The Wound Nobody Talks About

If you were abused as a child and never told anyone — this episode is for you. One in six men has experienced childhood sexual abuse. Almost none of them have ever told anyone. Not because it didn't happen. Because the culture handed them a lie the moment it did. This week on The Warrior Medic we are going into the hardest wound we have discussed since we started this journey. We trace the wound from installation to the shame cycle it creates — and point toward the One who has been working all things together for good since before the wound was installed. Romans 8:28 is not a promise that what happened was good. It is a promise that God is powerful enough to take what was done in darkness and work it toward something the darkness never intended. I am living proof. Each day this week:  Monday — The wound that lives in silence. What it is. Who carries it. Why nobody talks about it.  Tuesday — The shame cycle. Why the memory revisits. Why the shame hits like it just happened.  Wednesday — What it does to marriage. The walls. The distance. The intimacy shutdown.  Thursday — What it does to fathering and identity. The man who never felt safe being a boy.  Friday — The healing arc. Romans 8:28. The trusted counselor. The faith walk. The destination.  Saturday — Letter to the boy who was never supposed to carry this.  Sunday — What I Wish Someone Had Told Me: God was in the room. And He has never left. Nobody Would Ever Control Him Again | The Warrior Medic

This week on The Warrior Medic — the control wound. The controlling man doesn't look wounded. He looks like a leader. He looks like the man who has his life together. But his wife stopped making suggestions. His children feel managed, not known. And he hasn't slept a full night in years because controlling everything requires everything. He doesn't have control. His fear has control. This week we trace the control wound from installation to cost — and point toward the One who is the first authority in a man's life who has never once used His power against you. Each day this week:  Monday — Installation, conclusion, and the cost of the control wound.  Tuesday — The exhaustion of controlling everything, all the time.  Wednesday — Control in marriage: the husband who grips everything and loses the one thing that matters.  Thursday — Control at work and at home: the leader who cannot let go.  Friday — The healing arc: surrendering control to the One who is actually trustworthy.  Saturday — Letter to the man who has been white-knuckling everything.  Sunday — What I Wish Someone Had Told Me: control is fear with a suit on. Was It Prophetic... or Just Pizza? | The Generational Wound | EP014 | The Warrior Medic

This week on The Warrior Medic — the generational wound. I had a dream. A boy stood in a driveway and watched his father drive away. The father handed him a set of legal documents tied with a red ribbon. Got in the car. And drove away. Years later — that boy became a man. Had a son of his own. And one day his son stood in the same driveway. Same question. Same mailbox. Same documents. Same red ribbon. The sins of the fathers. Not passed through cruelty. Through inheritance. In this episode:  — The dream: generational transmission shown, not told  — The red ribbon: provision without presence  — What the boy concluded: the vow that runs the man  — Seeing the father's wound: compassion replacing hatred  — The chain breaks: one man who turns  — The Father who never drives away "I visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children — to the third and fourth generation. But showing love to a thousand generations." — Exodus 20:5-6 Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/i4lhcrkNvCY  Get Forged by Fire:  https://www.amazon.com/FORGED-FIRE-Victory-W-ANDERSON/dp/B0GL4XV985 thewarriormedic.com This content is for healing, education, and awareness. I Hated Him at That Moment. | The Abandonment Wound | EP013 | The Warrior Medic

This week on The Warrior Medic — the abandonment wound.  I was sixteen years old. Breaking pavement with a pick in our driveway.  My father beat me with a leather strap. When he finished — I looked him in the eye and told him: "When I'm eighteen — I'm out of here. And you will never see me again."  He laughed. And walked away.  That laugh installed something in me that ran my life for decades. The abandonment wound — the conclusion that nobody cares whether you stay or go — and the vow that follows: "I'll leave before they leave me. Every time."  In this episode: — How the abandonment wound installs itself — not through violence, but through indifference — The generational chain: wounded fathers raising wounded sons — The three layers of manifestation: pushing people away, making yourself indispensable, superficial intimacy — The turning point: seeing your father's wound for the first time — How the abandonment wound actually heals — and the One who broke the vow  "Though my father and mother forsake me — the LORD will receive me." — Psalm 27:10  Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/DcSJhJpnhgY  Get The Book... I Believed Rage Always Won... I Was Wrong.

I believed rage won. My father taught me that — through beatings, through instructions, through driving me back to a schoolyard and making me fight a boy I had no business fighting. And rage DID win. For a long time. It won fights. It won arguments. It intimidated opponents. It produced compliance in the people around me. What it didn't win was respect. Or love. Or the kind of marriage and fatherhood and leadership I actually wanted. I thought people respected me. I found out later they feared me. I never hit my wife. But I beat her to tears with words. I stood at my son's wrestling mat and yelled things at him no father should yell. And he looked at me and said: "Dad… no other dad does that." Then a terrified young soldier stood in front of me and said: "Sir — I don't understand what you want. I'd give it to you if I could. But I just don't understand." And I saw myself. As a boy. With my father. That was when the crushing realization hit. I had become my father. In the way that mattered most. "Better a patient man than a warrior — a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city." — Proverbs 16:32 My father trained me to weaponize rage.  My closest friend… Jesus, taught me to lay the weapon down. I was in elementary school. An older boy — bigger than I was — got into it with me. And I didn't fight back. I argued, then walked away. I went home and told my dad what happened. My father beat me… Badly. Then he personally drove me back to the school. Found the boy. And made me fight him. He gave me one instruction: I’ll beat you again if you lose. I was a boy who had just been beaten by his father for not fighting. Now standing in front of a bigger boy with the promise of more beating waiting at home if I didn't win. I fought… And I won. Not because I was brave. But, because I had no other option. That day — my father didn't just make me fight a boy. He installed something in me that would run my life for the next forty years. He installed rage. SECTION 1: THE FRAMEWORK — INSTALLATION This is EP012. And we're going deeper into the framework we established last week. Installation. Conclusion. Manifestation. Today's wound is… rage. The rage wound doesn't always look like what you think. It doesn't always come from a violent home. Sometimes it comes from something more specific — and more intentional — than random violence. My father didn't just rage at me.  He TRAINED me. He trained me that fighting was required… And Losing was unacceptable. That rage — when properly deployed — was the solution to every problem that required strength. I was probably one of the only children in history who got punished for NOT fighting. Let that land for a moment. While other boys were getting in trouble for fighting at school — I was getting beaten…, bloody at home for failing to fight. The boys at school thought I was a bully. They didn't know that if I didn't fight — all hell would break loose when I got home. That's the installation. SECTION 2: THE CONCLUSION — RAGE AS FRIEND Now — what did the boy conclude? Here's what makes my rage wound different from what most people expect. I wasn't naturally explosive. I couldn't access rage on demand. Rage only came when my anger exceeded my reluctance to engage. But when it came — it worked. In that state I was motivated to fight until I won. Regardless of the size of the opponent. Regardless of the consequences. Regardless of what it cost. And so, I made a conclusion: "Rage is my friend." "It gives me what I need." "It solves what nothing else can." "When the anger exceeds my reluctance — I win." That conclusion followed me out of elementary school. Out of my father's house. Into the Army. Into leadership. Into marriage. Into fatherhood. Rage had been my friend for so long — I didn't know how to live without it. SECTION 3: THE MANIFESTATION Forty years later — that conclusion showed up everywhere. In my LEADERSHIP: I thought people respected me. I discovered later, they feared me. I wasn't trying to intimidate. I was trying to lead. But the wound had only one tool — and that tool produced fear instead  of respect without me ever knowing the difference. In my MARRIAGE: I never raised my hand to my wife. But my words could do what fists couldn't. The rage that was trained to win at any cost didn't stop at the front door when I came home. It followed me in. And the people I loved most paid the price for wounds I was never supposed to have. In my FATHERING: I remember standing beside a wrestling mat. My son was in a tournament. His opponent had him in a hold. And I stood at that mat and yelled at my son to reach down inside and find some grit. To throw the boy off. To fight harder. I yelled so loud. So long. Demanding things from a boy that he simply couldn't do in that moment. I embarrassed him badly. And I didn't even know it. Because in my world — that was what fathers did. That was how you made a boy fight. That was how my father had done it. I was passing the wound without knowing I was even carrying it. SECTION 4: THE TURNING POINT — THE SOLDIER The discovery of my rage wound came through a young soldier. He came to me — visibly terrified — and said something I will never forget. "Sir — I'm sorry. And I know you're going to punish me really bad." "But I don't understand what you want." "I'd give it to you if I could." "But I just don't understand." He was a young man who wanted to do well. He was trying everything. He would have given anything. But he couldn't give me what he didn't understand. And standing there — looking at that terrified young man — I saw myself. As a boy, With my father. Wanting desperately to make him happy. Trying everything. Would have given anything. But I couldn't understand what he was asking of me. And paying for that confusion with pain. The wound looked back at me through the eyes of a terrified young soldier. And I was horrified by what I saw. I had become my father. Not in the ways I swore I never would. In the way that mattered most — the people around me were afraid of me. Not because I was dangerous. But because I was wounded. And I had never known the difference. SECTION 5: THE HEALING PATH The healing of the rage wound didn't come through a program. It didn't come through anger management. It didn't come through books on leadership — Although those helped. It came through a moment when God required something of me  that my rage couldn’t survive. My Father God asked me to stand completely still. To absorb what was coming. To trust Him with the outcome — without defending myself. Without retaliating. Without complaint. In that moment — my anger had nowhere to go. And for the first time in my life — I let God be my defense instead of my rage. That's when it died. Not because I got stronger. Because I finally trusted someone stronger than my anger. Proverbs sixteen, verse thirty-two says: "Better a patient man than a warrior — a man who controls his temper - than one who takes a city." I had been taking cities with my rage my entire life. I thought that made me strong. I was wrong… It made me feared. It made me lonely. It made me… my father. Proverbs twenty-nine, verse eleven: "A fool gives full vent to his rage — but a wise man brings himself under control." And James one, verses nineteen and twenty: "Everyone should be quick to listen — slow to speak — and slow to become angry." Quick to listen. Slow to speak. Slow to anger. That young soldier taught me all three in one terrified sentence. And God finished the work that the soldier started. To finish the story… The young soldier stood there, obviously afraid of what was coming. I’m proud to say, I sharply returned his salute, and said quietly “Pvt Jones, I understand completely… but thanks for trying.” The look on his face was priceless… I just wish my father could have seen that look… on my face… just once. THE CHALLENGE So, for this week… One thing. Again, not a list. I Finally Just Stopped | The Warrior Medic

I was in Saudi Arabia. Alone in an apartment. Far from everyone and everything that meant anything to me. And God put me on my knees. Not dramatically. Not with thunder and lightning. Just — on my knees. With nothing. No achievement to offer. No performance to present. Just me. On my knees. With nothing. And God made one thing clear: There is nothing you can do to earn this. Nothing you need to do to earn this. You can only receive it. Deuteronomy 9:6 — "The LORD your God is not giving you this good land because of your righteousness." Not because of my righteousness. Not because I earned it. Because He chose to. The boy in the boat who concluded he was replaceable — was told by God: I chose you. The weight fell. All the trying was over. Accepted. Exactly as I was. No performance needed. No performance allowed. Like The one a boy draws when the wound is installed. Or the one that runs a man's life for forty years. Today I want to tell you about the night that conclusion finally lost its power over me. I was in Saudi Arabia. Alone in an apartment. And God put me on my knees. Not dramatically. Not with thunder and lightning. Just — on my knees.  With nothing. No achievement to offer. No performance to present. No record of indispensability to lay on the table. Just me. On my knees. With nothing. And in that moment — God made something clear. There is nothing you can do to earn this. … Nothing you need to do to earn this. You can only receive it. I thought of a verse I'd read. Deuteronomy nine, verse six. "Understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land because of your righteousness — for you are a stiff-necked people." Not because of my righteousness. Not because I earned it. Not because I performed well enough. But… Because He chose to. The boy in the boat who concluded he was replaceable — the man who spent forty years trying to prove otherwise — was being told by God: I chose you. Not because of your righteousness. But because I chose you. Something happened in that moment that forty years of achievement never produced. The weight fell. Not all at once. Not completely. But something changed. The knowledge — deep inside — that all the trying was over. That I was accepted. Exactly as I was. No performance needed.  No performance allowed. Just love Him. That's all the earning I needed. Worth can't be earned. It can only be received. And that night in Saudi Arabia — I finally received it. I Was Too Young to Understand, But Old Enough to Hate | The Warrior Medic

I was nine years old. My father and I had just come back from a fishing trip in the Gulf. We were cleaning the boat together. Just the two of us. That's supposed to be one of the good memories. My father got quiet for a moment. Then looked at me and said — calmly, like he was commenting on the weather: "You know — if your mom were with us, and you both fell in the water… I would save your mom. I would have to let you drown." I asked him why. And in a calm, almost friendly way he said: "Well, because I love your mom. And we can always have more children." I went quiet. I had no words for that. I didn't have words for that for the next forty years. What that moment installed in a nine year old boy was devastating. And it ran his life for forty years without him knowing it. And it does not start “Once upon a time…” This story is brutal. I was nine years old. My father and I had just come back from a fishing trip in the Gulf — near our home.  We were cleaning the boat together. Just the two of us. If you grew up with a father — you know what that kind of moment is supposed to feel like. A boy and his dad. After a day on the water. That's supposed to be one of the good memories. My father got quiet for a moment. He mentioned my mother. Then he looked at me — and said, calmly, like he was commenting on the weather: "You know — if your mom were with us, and you both fell in the water… I would save your mom. And we can always have more children." I went quiet. I had no words for that. In fact, I didn’t have words for that for the next forty years. What I had was a conclusion. He Installed that conclusion in a nine-year-old boy cleaning a boat with his dad, after a fishing trip. "I am not worth saving." "I’m optional." "The man who is supposed to love me most — just told me… seriously… he would let me die." I was too young to understand what that did to me. But I was old enough to feel it. And old enough — eventually — to hate him for it. That conclusion followed me out of that boat. Into every job. Every relationship. Every room I ever walked into. And the man I became spent the next forty years trying to prove it wrong. Through achievement… Performance. Through making myself indispensable — everywhere I went. Because if I was indispensable — maybe I wasn't replaceable after all. That's not healing. That's a wounded boy running a grown man's life. I Had To Shut Her Out | The Warrior Medic

I had to shut her out. Not because I didn't love her. Because something in me believed that if she got too close — she'd see what I really was. And she'd leave. That conclusion wasn't about her. It was a wound installed in a boy long before he ever met her. "I am not enough." "Closeness leads to pain." "If she really knew me — she'd leave." That conclusion became the third person in our marriage. She'd reach through — I'd pull back. She'd get close — I'd perform instead of connect. She'd need me — I'd disappear. It wasn't her. It was never her. You're not competing with another woman. You're competing with a wound he's been carrying since before he knew you. If your husband is distant — if he's present in the house but unreachable inside it — I want to tell you what's actually driving that distance. It's not you. It's a conclusion a boy drew decades before he ever met you. Something happened to him. A father who raged at him, or who left. A father who was present in body but absent in every way that mattered. And driven by that distance, the boy concluded something about himself. "I am not enough." "I am not worth staying for." "Closeness leads to pain." "If she really knew me — she'd leave." That conclusion is the third person in your marriage. It's why he can't openly receive your love — because he believes love has to be earned, and he's still trying to earn it. It's why he performs at work but disappears at home — performance feels safer than connection. It's why he withdraws when you need him most — closeness feels like exposure. About

The Warrior Medic helps men find, name, and heal the wounds keeping them from becoming who they were made to be — as husbands, fathers, leaders, and men of genuine faith. We start with the wound, not with religion, and walk toward the only One who has ever actually healed it.
